Creating new horse armor?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:12 am

Hello!

I'm completely new to blender (and modeling in general) but I'd like to learn to use it with a goal of making new horse armors eventually.

I've read through some of the basic blender tutorials, but what I'd like to know is what models will I probably need to import to create it? Should I just import the whole horse, skeleton and all, and layer it over that? Is horse armor an actual complete creature model or a stand-alone one that's somehow added over the horse later?

Any information, no matter how general or in-depth would be appreciated so I can get a sense of what I'm getting myself into.:)

Thanks!

I've no idea how the DLC horse armour works but examining something like http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=26788 should help you. Also, if you look at horses in the CS you will see how things like saddles are added. A short step from there to adding armour. Of course actually making the armour...

Here is the http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Blender/Creature_Meshes_101
I think that horse armour would be made just like any other creature part and then added in the CS under models tab.

So, you need to see in tutorial how to make a clean skeleton, add skin to it all in Nifskope, import all that in Blender, create your armour, weight-paint it to bones of the skeleton and export it.
