Daedra and the Nine

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:18 am

Okay, as we all should know, there are two separate faiths in the world of Nirn (or at least in Cyrodill). There are those who believe in and follow the Daedra, and those who do the same for the Nine.

These two divinities are entirely separate from the way the act, and where they reside, act, etc.

I just need a few questions answered...

Where do the Nine reside?

Also, who is really credited with creating Tamriel?

Once I get those two questions answered, I will be able to continue with my original statements.

The Nine are trapped on Nirn and they (their planets) orbit around it. Like a thief with his hand caught in the bank teller's window slot.

Nirn was a collaborative project of Lorkhan, the Nine and other similar beings who left in the middle of it.

Two separate faiths? What you call two I call at least thirty four. And those two only take a glancing blow at religion.

other religions that exist:
whatever the skaal religion would be called
The tribunal Temple
the various ancestor worshippers (read: multiple ancestor worshipping groups)
the ass-load of pantheons.
The numerous daedric cults and arguabely witches.
and more...

He's talking about in Cyrodill. In Cyrodill the 2 main religions are Nine Divine and Daedra Worship.....

Well anyways from what I've read, I don't know where the Nine live (maybe Nirn like paw-prints said), but I do know they assisted the God Lorkhan in creating everything. Each Nine offered something to the creation of Nirn, like Kynareth who created rain and the elements and Aktosh offered his blood to Alessia to protect men from the Daedra.

"There is no meaning to human exsistence. We live for the sole puprose of surviving and there is no higher calling, no divine plan no meaning to our lives. It is foolishness to think that you or any other bipedal primate has a purpose to fufill."

There is no existence. We live. It is foolishness to think.

Fixed this for u :)

Cyrodiil is the most religiously diverse province, and Daedric Cults are way down on the list.

fixed that for you?

I definitely didn't get a 'religiously diverse' vibe in TESIV. :(

The best source for what happened in the Dawn era are these two links: http://www.imperial-library.info/mwbooks/monomyth.shtml (esoterical) and http://www.imperial-library.info/obscure_text/vehk_teaching.shtml (logical).

Well, for gameplay purposes, the nine individual cults have been squashed down into one. There are really nine cults there; sometimes it shows through, as with Martin's statement that he is a priest of Akatosh, and the Prophet's references to the adherents of Dibella and Mara. The cults of the major Daedra are all represented, the cult of Sithis is well developed, and there are minor cults such as the K'Sharra Prophecy cult at Border Watch.
