Crysis 2 PS3 Multiplayer Demo

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 9:56 pm

Just downloaded the demo and tried it out. Not bad I enjoyed it. Anyone else play it?

Edit: sorry for the error in the title. I'm posting this from my phone and can't edit it. Mod: Fix'd.

I have also played it, it is not as good as the 360 demo which is very surprising considering they were supposed to be optimizing the game for PS3 and compressing the 360 version. The frame rate seems to take a small hit in the PS3 version and there seems to be something off about the graphics. This is very odd, since most games I've played on PS3 that are supposed to look better on 360 do not seem to be as different as Crysis 2 is.

I played a few games, didn't like it at all. I'll stick with Killzone 3 for my FPS game until Battlefield 3 is released.

Yea I've seen that they had trouble with the PS3 version. Is it that the graphics aren't as smooth? I haven't been able to see them side by side or any comparison shots. How much better is the 360 version?

It did that to me the first couple times I tried getting into a game. I exited back out to the main menu and then searched again and didn't have a problem.

I honestly don't know how this is possible since Crytek and EA have both said that the PS3 version was supposed to fully utilize the PS3's power which would have made it become the best graphic console game. Now it seems like they focused the game on 360, because they PS3 version of this game suffers from frame rate drops and something about the graphic is off. I can't exactly pin point the problem, but I do notice a difference. It seems like the film grain effect on the PS3 version makes this game look ugly. The PS3 is more than capable of running this game better than the 360 since Killzone 3 has better graphics than the console Crysis 2 and it runs at a smoother frame rate than Crysis 2. I am comparing the Killzone 3 beta/Demo to the Crysis 2 PS3/360 Demos to be fair. Anyway since a game with better graphics runs better on PS3, it is obvious that Crytek developed this on the 360 first to avoid going over the machine's limits. I will buy the game on PS3 and then rent the 360 version and I will compare the full games, maybe then the PS3 version will look better. Since the demo was obviously a port.

Anybody else think the graphics look like ass?

I can't really explain it. The game looks like a Jackson Pollock painting. There's just too much stuff going on.

They do look gross and I can't explain it either. I think it is due to the demo being a port from the 360 version. Crysis 2 was supposed to look and run better on PS3, Crytek even said this themselves. Lets just hope the real games does not look like this horrible demo.

I don't mean just on PS3. I had the same problem with the 360 demo.

It's like instead of stabilizing the graphics for the consoles so that it ran smoother, Crytek decided to just try and make them as close to the PC as possible so it's just nothing but jagged edges, delayed textures, and framerate problems. The game just looks like a mess.

I didn't notice many problems on the 360 version. Yes it may not be as smooth as the PC version but its good for a console game.

I still haven't been able to play. Every time it looks for a match it says "Network Connection Lost. Please check your network connection." I'm signed in on PSN so my connection obviously wasn't lost..... WTF?!

Crytek dun goofed with the PS3 demo. In the few games I actually managed to get I experienced poor frame rates and there was something about the visuals that made it hard to look at, like there was too much stuff for the eye to take in. I really didn't enjoy it and I won't be buying the game unless I see it going cheap somewhere.

I thought it was just me, but it seems others here agree. I've never bought any shooter of any type, before, but I was curious to see what the sequel of what is perhaps the best-looking game of current existence looks like on my PS3 while perhaps playing the demo of a shooter that actually interests me enough for me to buy it. It really doesn't look that good, in my opinion. I'm not sure why, as others have said, but there's just something about it that doesn't look good and the Killzone 3 demo definitely seemed to have more impressive graphics, to me. I also thought, from what I've played, that the Killzone 3 demo was more fun. That it takes ridiculous amounts of time to even connect me to a game and that it keeps disconnecting me doesn't help. I remember reading that Crytek was optimizing the PS3 version and having it as their leading console for this game, but it really doesn't look like that at all. What happened?

The PS3 demo was a lot worse than the 360 version, I tried both and whilst I hated the PS3 demo, I enjoyed the 360 demo enough to pre order the game.

Graphically? Performance-wise? Both?

I wouldn't say graphically, there were more frame rate issues for sure, but visually it looked just as good. I found with the PS3 demo that it was very hard to find a match, and when I did there was a good chance I wouldn't see it through to the end. I found aiming a lot harder, I find this strange as I play my PS3 a lot more than the 360 and I always choose FPS games on the PS3 so this shouldn't have been an issue. I also found that the game would lagg a lot more, more than a few time I pressed triangle to change my weapon only to have it change 90 seconds later.

I don't know what Crytek's excuse is about it, but I will be getting the 360 version after that. I heard they said the PS3 version will be better than the 360, but I'd rather not take the risk.

Try both versions before decided that. The demo was ported from the 360 version so its obviously going to suffer. The full game utilizes the PS3's power according to Crytek and EA.

Yeah, and the game was going to support DX11 according to Crytek and EA - look where that one ended up.

Then why don't they give the PS3 a demo of the actual PS3 gameplay? Killzone 3 utilizes more of the PS3's power than Crysis 2. It just looks better and runs better and typically a demo is meant to showcase a game before one decides whether to buy it or not. How do they plan to convince PS3 players to buy it by giving them a badly ported demo? I'm not doubting much, I'm just curious to know what the logic behind it was.

I heard that the demo was really lackluster on all platforms; a real shame considering how fun the first one was. I tried playing the demo yesterday after coming home from Uni (where I don't have my desktop), but I found out that they shut the demo down because of issues :P.
