I think the answer is that you don't. It was supposed to be replaced by http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22678. If you read the readme for that it discusses the upgrade process from KotWS 4.4. So it's implying you should skip it and install FE300 instead.

Because it's a merger of two different mods.

I believe the Feudal empire is NOT a direct replacement. I played both some time back and Feudal Empire does not improve the white stallion lodge nor give you the additional NPCs which you can recruit (that is why the original had CM Partners).

I played the original Knights and it worked without problem for me. I did not use the OOO plugin for it, didn't seem to bother the game or make it unbalanced.

Just the Knights of the white stallion mod (and only use the CM plugins from that mod if you do not already use the original mod). Read the readme. I never used the OOO plugin (even when I played it with OOO).

The OOO plugin I mention was another mod that modified the stats for the Knights NPCs, but I did not use it so it is up to you. Ignore that for now.

As for CM partners, try it without it. I think the only thing that will do is not have them be able to join you for adventuring.

From what I remember, whenever you go to Lleyawin and talk to the count, he wants you too see what Mazaga wants. The you talk to her and do her quest. The after that t talk to the count and he makes you a Knight errant in the Whate Stallions. The you start collecting black bows (the black bow bandits attack the lodge, best time to get some). Then he assigns a quest to kill Black Brugo. AFter that when you turn in enough bows he want you to see what happened to his daughter when the Black bow bandits took her. After that you get a high rank and a nice room at the lodge.

Make sure to set Mazaga as essential (instructions are in the readme). It is a nice little quest mod and the lodge is nice.
