Remake of Boilerplate's Character Creation Guide

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 9:53 pm

I've remade Boilerplate's character creation guide to the best of my memories. He had arguably made the best Daggerfall build ever seen, and a guide for how to create it, until he later took his channel down.

So without further ado,

It was interesting to hear your recollection of Boilerplate's (whose handle I don't really recognize) custom character. Of course, the question "best Daggerfall build" for what? is going to come up. To me the best character is the type you have most fun playing. So I'm assuming that this is a power play type character. Under that assumption there are a lot of things that could be done to improve it.

This has been discussed a lot, and I think the information at tesguides.com and uesp.net is comprehensive. The attributes are good, but the skills and advantages/disadvantages could be changed a lot to the player's advantage even without using bugs (such as the High Elf paralysis or the immunity to magic bugs).

Medical is really an unnecessary skill. Having a lot of HP, high Endurance or the special advantage Rapid Healing in Darkness are much better.

Boilerplate was a decently famous youtuber, and had the most famous Daggerfall video's. He took his channel down, though.

Haha, and I said it was arguable, but it's the best build I've ever used, and this guy did know what he was doing. I'm not really here to argue the how good the build is, but rather a re-post of it.

But even so, I was just posting what he had. My character is a Nord, with small variations to the build more personalized to me.

You can improve that build if you want a more powerful character. Try lowering the advancement dagger to the bottom legal area, maximize your hp per level and add resistances to magic with more drastic disadvantages, damage to sunlight, dark powered magery, forbiden material ebony. Intelligence is more important than speed, since you can get a fast character by casting Feet of Notorgo. Also put restoration and mysticism in your primary skills with your weapon skill. Skills like running are best to be on minor skills.

Of course that if you don't want a powerful character but an explorer or a thief then you need a different build.

I understood that you were here to re-post your recollection of it, but this is a discussion board and my criticisms are not of you. I was speaking to n00bz who watched the video. :)

I think it's pretty easy to make an overpowered character in Daggefall. That's why I go to great lengths to gimp mine.

Excellent! Thank you, I've been looking everywhere for this :D

EDIT: I think the primaries were actually

Long Blade
Critical Strike
Medical

But I'm not sure.

Not in this order but. It was medical, Thaumaturgy and restoration together as major skills. Longblade, critical strike and another skill were the primary skills of Boilerplate's character.
