ok the CS crashes as soon as i click on a package in the packages screen, i also get crashing sometimes when i click on thace tb of an npc. any ideas as to how to fix this?

Eh, it happens. The CS is a fickle beast.
All you can do really is keep trying, or try out the http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36370. It may or may not help.
