moving objects between exterior cells

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 1:54 am

Hi all:

I have a castle that I want to move from one region of Tamriel (far east) to another (far west). Is there an easy way for me to copy all exterior objects and then set them down somewhere much farther away? Have searched the forums here, the cs wiki and some tutorials on other sites but can't find the answer; apologies in advance if I am missing some simple common sense solution. Thanks!

Ctrl-X, Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V work in the render window.
So you could select all the pieces you need, use Ctrl-X or Ctrl-C to move/copy then to the clipboard, go to the destination area and use Ctrl-V to place them there (they will keep their relative positions)

The bad side of this method is that the pasted objects are new objects. FormIDs and EditorIDS are not carried over. Door links will also be broken. Fixing these things may or may not mean a lot of work, depending on how many there are to fix.

Otherwise moving them all the way, cell to cell, is the only option I can think of.

Moving them cell to cell clear across tamriel would in effect make a 'change' to every cell you move through. This can have negative effects on your game in the long run.
