When/if TES V is announced

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 10:51 am

spoilers no. I will even be wary of this site and i hope people mark there spoilers accordingly.
What i will do is watch the progress and be happy when they announce milestones,(like they've completely finished it and its off to be packaged), and at the most download a few screen shots of title screens.
I agree that sometimes you just get spoiled with the previews, and reviews.
I trust that this will be a great game. I knew nothing of the elderscrolls franchise, and thought that oblivion was some overhyped game like unreal or halo. Then i played it at a friends house and fell in love with the 100 plus hours i wasted on oblivion morrowind and fallout( even while personally owning only morrowind) . My girlfriend knew even less, and she loves the games.
It keeps that feeling alive, just by anticipating the game and not knowing virtually anything about it. :obliviongate:

i would eat it up -> look at how many threads their are with suggestions for the game, even just a teaser trailer and a few screen shots would b devoured by fans like animals  so my vote, definately yes -> the sooner we see something bout this game the better

I dont even want to see the game in motion. 1 screenshot from the gameplay perspective, and I can get hyped for it like I did when I was a kid and had to get my info from playstation mag. and gameinformer.

I want to know basic features, setting, and gameplay tidbits. Other than that I wont be reading more than 1 or so previews, and wont watch all the developer stuff until after I've played it. Its a day two purchase for me (so I dont have to stand in line and possibly hear stuff about the game I dont want to be hearing.)

I would love to be able to stay away from all the information and have an amazing experience finding out about the game when I eventually get to play it.

But sadly I would not, and will never be able to resist the temptation.

to add to this, i would buy it first for the ps3, then get it for the computer after a few years once the price goes down, and ive played almost everything on it, just so i can mod it.

I don't want significant spoilers, what I would like is:

Title
Location
Screen Shots
Preliminary PC req/rec specs

Later, maybe a trailer or two with mostly general landscape, town and interior video. Maybe a little fighting vs the next iteration of daedra that showed up in Oblivion. Don't show any surprises, save anything that can induce the wow factor for an experience in the game.

I will look at stuff involving gameplay, but I'll try to keep away from the story.

Three things.

Where it is set.

When it is set.

When is it out.

In regards to spoilers/previews... I think keeping the community, especially the forum, up to date on any big changes or ideas the developers might be unsure about could be beneficial to everyone in the long run. Sometimes things that seem 'aight at the time can end up being rather ridiculous or annoying in the long run. (Hundreds of guards appearing in Daggerfall after a few little crimes, Cliffracers being all over the place in Morrowind, essential characters in Oblivion, etc.)

Hell having a little "demo town" would even work.
I guess they "NO we won't do it" point there would rather be that they'd have to release a part of their new engine in advance meaning some "creative" minds could already "plan ahead".

Though if they REALLY want to be modder friendly they won't make the engine a book with 700 seals again, it took years to crack Morrowinds coding and Oblivions was even more a mess in some points. Just give us something easily accessible and flexible, the modding community for TES is HUGE and they want tools they can actually use.

Making everything accessible runs the risk of basically handing out their brand-new, custom game engine to anyone out there. They're still a business, and you have to protect your ideas. There's also probably some degree of "kid-proofing" they go through when releasing the construction set and such, because certain elements of the engine, when tooled around with, can have drastic changes on the game.

Sure, there might be a handful of modders who can foresee the effects, but think of all the mods average people might make. There might be one tiny tweak in SUPER DUPER AWESOME OMG nvde mods that thousands of people integrate into their games, but a few hundred hours of game play later and the whole thing becomes unstable. It's not "permanent" damage but I guarantee you if all these players' games started screwing up inexplicably, they'd first blame Bethesda for making a poor game, and then blame Bethesda for not warning them not to touch that particular feature.

A free demo that was basically one dungeon.

A demo, or preview screenshots/videos could still end up being misleading though. There could be changes they make that follow the release of said previews that people will then complain about when the actual game is released.

I don't want plot spoilers, but I do want to know some general plot details.

I want to know that the main quest will be less repetitive in structure (the first time entering an oblivion gate was cool. The 20th time? Not so cool.).

I want to know how many factions/guilds there will be, and if politics/houses have made a return (we can hope).

I want to know stats on the game world (how many NPCs? Towns? Caves? Quests? - basically I just want confirmation that the game is not lighter on content than Oblivion).

That's the kind of info that will put my mind at ease.

I imagine they'll be as silent about the plot as they were for Fallout 3. I researched as much as I could about that game before it came out and I still found the game to be very satisfying.

I would avoid spoiliers except for screen caps that might show me what the world looks like. Alien world versus a run of the mill medievil setting

I'd like to hear about gameplay and the world and stuff, but not the main story. Maybe hear the premise, but not much more than that.
