and everyone else loving it just seems to magnify your hate, until one day it comes up in conversation and out it pours, like a bile fountain,
who cares how demented you sound, it just feels good to get it out of your system,
so bring it, group therapy everyone, feel free to defend your favourite game if you like, and feel free to bash a film instead if that's what's got your goat...
me first.... grrrr.... gRrrr.... Half Life 2.
what an overrated game. i agree the atmosphere in the game is top notch.
but most of time the combat is a combination of shoot and sidestep, and it's boring, the enemy troops look particularly dumb when doing their little shuffle,
also i found myself aiming harder at doors just to walk through them - it was so easy to catch your shoulder on the side and be halted in your tracks,
my main problem with it however, and it kills me so much that the game gets praise for this - the puzzles
the puzzles are just valve showing off their new physics engine, and that's all, there's nothing clever about them, they're just annoying,
and would all be made redundant if the character could just climb, but he can't, he can lift bricks and fill barrels and but he can't even pull himself up out of a bath.
so what we've got is a guy who can't walk through doors properly, and who can't climb out a window, and so he manages to find himself trapped in the strangest of places where he gets to engage his scientific mind by lifting bricks.
for me, in a game shrouded in stark realism, that is most definitely a game ruiner.
