Help on Saving mods

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 1:35 am

I cannot save mods on cs and am humbly requesting help I have the latest version of the construction 2.something and windows seven. Oblivion is installed in C/Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion I have not had this problem when running the GECK for fallout 3 and fallout new vegas I have tried reinstalling the editor. I think it may have something to do with nuber of mods (over a hundred I think). I get no error message when I tried to save I looked up cs crashes on the the cs wiki but the fixes I understood sisn't work (I don't know how to edit the height of exterior scells and couldn't find the information on the wiki. thanks for any help in advance.

Humor me and check one more time? There is no version 2.x.

That shouldn't be an issue, as the max is 255. Unless you mean you're actually trying to load all those plugins in the CS - in that case, that's your problem right there. Just load the plugin you want to work on. Any masters it requires will load automatically.

The http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Category:Basic_Landscaping_Tutorial at the CS Wiki shows you how.

okay thanks for the help I was trying to load all of them at once and will stop doing that. I was trying to make compatability patches and thought that loading them all at once was the simplest way. it still crashes when I try to change anything in a certain mod AFKweye I am using cs 1.2.404 sorry for the confusion I'll try editing the landscape when as soon as I can.

To make compatibility patches, or to use or alter content from other plugins, just loading the relevant plugins isn't quite what you need to do. You have two options.

1. Use the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36370 by shadeMe. Any plugins you load in addition to the active plugin will automatically become masters of the active plugin (or new plugin, if that's the case), and so your active plugin will work as a patch. In this case, do not load any plugins at all other than what you need to accomplish your task, or you will create unnecessary dependencies. This requires OBSE.

2. Use the techniques described in this http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/De-Isolation_Tutorial, which is how we all did it before the CSE was born.

Either way, what you should understand is that, by default, the CS will not save any changes to content originating from any loaded plugins unless they are the "active" plugin. And, as you've probably discovered, you can only have one of those at a time. The only way to get those changes to stick is to make the plugins masters of the active plugin.

alternatively if you just want to load them all as passive for a mod that your working on, you could try loading a few at a time and using the "file->tools->combine loaded plugins" feature in the CS to create one plugin that includes everything for easy reference.
