looking for a companion mod

hi,

im looking for a companion mod that
  • Make companion essential
  • Can give companion basic command
  • Although companion cannot die, they still can become unconcious. Takes time to be concious.
  • Did not heal instantly when become concious. Instead slowly generates health.


I tried couple companion mods. But it seems none of them have this requirements. Am i missing something?

Any companion that's marked as essential will fall unconscious instead of dying, but I think it's a game setting that determines how long they'll stay down. The problem with changing that setting via a mod is that it will change it for all companions and some people may not want that. I'm working on http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=3710 that's still in the Alpha stage, but she's very much playable. She's not beta yet because I'm adding dialog for her regarding the Main Quest and will be adding in quests for her later on. But, she is fully functional in that you can change her following distance, her combat tactics (melee vs. ranged) and she'll continue to sneak if you're sneaking when you talk to her unless she's commenting on a quest you're doing. She only comments once per quest stage, so that shouldn't be an issue. I'll have to warn you that modding is a hobby for me, so this mod won't be finished until sometime next year. I'm shooting for April, but I don't like to make deadlines. BTW, her skills are small guns, energy weapons, and sneak. She also won't heal unless she has stimpaks, so keep her well stocked if you take her along.

i tried Better Companions and Caravans. when dogmeat unconcious, it will regain concious with full health few seconds later. i tried sharing and caring, although i set dogmeat as essential, it can dies with no way of reviving(afaik). plus friend dialog bug is immersion breaking.

Any other recommended mods?

The Fallout Wanderer's edition companion addon does exactly what you described. I think you need Fallout Wanderer's edition for it to work though.

Sharing and Caring Companions plus TRASCH works fine for me, so I'm not sure what bug is being mentioned with the Friend option... oh, unless you meant if an NPC speaks first? But that almost never happens to me. :) Anyway, I need these for my Shojo Companions mod... which you may want to try, at least.

IMO Amy Wong is the best Companion mod ever created,She will stay by you until the end.She learns here skill the same as you.She goes and sell your stuff for you while you are out in the waste,You can adjust what she buys,Such as ammo type food drink and medical supplies.She can use skill books just like you. and a whole lot more. Just my opion.

Amy Wong is an excellent mod...

Sydney mod is also a very good one.... it feels like it should have been in vanilla... and how she reacts to things and have TONS of voice dialog makes her feel alive...

I mean just have her when your talking to Bittercup and you'll she what I mean... *SPARKS FLY*

Remote control companions PLUS.

Once you have a follower by whatever means, Sharing and Caring Companions, teaming up with Sidney etc, you can add most of them as a companion with this mod then proceed to make them essential, and whats MORE

Have them wait.

Move on to explore the Amazon and find the headwaters of the Nile. And if a few cells away....rather than hike back and try to find where the @#+^!!! you left them to wait at...

Use Mark and Recall and Send companion to MY location. The companion appears at your side. Useful for adding a meatbag when encountering that errant deathclaw and one is not up to the task.

And rather than set essential, LET THEM DIE. It even has a resurrect function (Uses 1 buffout, stimpak, Jet and MedX, you can spare it, look for more it an abandoned medkit somewhere), and they are REVIVED. Much better than essential. So far I've had no problems with crashing because of it. Fallout Wanders Edition even has some version of this mod included because it is so useful in managing companions.

Sidney has died and been revived MANY times. Note to self -- Quit selling the spare buffout.

Shojo Companions are already essential, too, just fyi. Sharing and Caring Companions plus TRASCH also allows repair, wait, combat strategy/response, etc.
