Question Regarding Jagar Tharn and Barenziah

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:06 am

In the Real Barenziah its says B becomes pregnant with Tharn's child. What happens to the child? Is this dealt with in Arena?

no, not really. the child is never really talked about. the best hypothesis is that he is Helseth, being that tharn slept with barenziah in the same year he was born.

Helseth was conceived the year Tharn stole the Staff of Chaos from Mournhold, but Barenziah and Tharn weren't lovers at that time (if we take Real Barenziah for really real).

Barenziah had the book organised herself so chances are it was true

I want to know what happened to the kid too, but it likely fell into the same hole as other things like ropes.

Doesn't it actually say that Nightengale awakened something within Barenziah that allowed her to conceive Helseth with Symaschus.

You could bring up that the book is bias, yes, and possibly untrue.

But doesn't it also say that Barenziah and Uriel (Tharn/Nightengale) would constantly get in fights over Helseth because he was being a bad boy.

Even if there are reasons to believe Helseth is Tharn's son (although I don't see any other than the pure drama of it all), he is certainly not the same child Barenziah conceived with Tharn during the Simulacrum. If I was to guess the fate of this younger child, I'd say he/she was adopted by king Eadwyre into the royal family of Wayrest.

I wouldn't be surprised if Uriel and Barenziah had a bit of the old "bal-shikka-wawal'' and martin was the result, my god that woman got around a bit, must have been disgusting being Tamriels famous bike seat.

Really.

Dunmer heritage tends to show. You know, dark skin, red eyes and such. Martin's as human as one gets to be in Tamriel.

Barenziah is about 500 years old. During which time she had what? Five partners? That's one every 100 years on average. Most people do much worse by the standards you judge her.

This is a world with Evil Daedra lords, fake psychotic gods, crazy portals to the twilight zone and a somewhat irish sounding god with an identity crisis who considers you unworthy of eating cheese but fine with you becoming a god.

So... who knows

Actually she used to be a "camp follower" so it was a -lot- more than five. We should remember though that elves tend towards promiscuity in early life but end up very monogamous --> Once she settled down with Symmachus, he was her only partner for several -hundred- years. That's some pretty amazing devotion. And if she was tempted by the Nightengale, well, we are dealing with a Master of Illusion here...he may have charmed her so as to get the Staff.

Also, Helseth is definitely Symmachus' child, as is Morgiah. I suppose the third child (with Tharn) would have been born in Wayrest, but I've never heard anything about him/her.

And Olivia - good call on the Dunmer heritage. Children take the appearance of their mothers.

That could actually have led to an interesting storyline, the last hope of the Empire being half-Dunmer. I bet those clowns at Cloud Ruler Temple wouldn't cheer so loud and keep their katanas sheathed.

Some people assumed I was actually seriously suggesting Martins mother was a dunmer (It was a joke because she seems to get with anyone who had political power)

But I think that would have been hilarious, better yet, make martin a half orc haha.

In a related question, what's the deal with Helseth's round ears? Is that evidence of a human father, or did he have them trimmed to appear more like an Imperial?

One of his ears got cut, so he asked for a knife or something to do the same to the other ear. Rest is history

As mentioned above, children take the form of their mother's, which is why there aren't any half-breeds.

Rumour has it that Elysana bit one of his ears off during one of their infamous quarrels. (Tedders gave that information, I'm afraid I don't have the quote at hand, though.)
