Metal Gear Solid

I think MGS3 or MGS is my favourite. I can't really remember the first game now it was so long ago. MGS3 had irritating bosses though (not tough, just annoying).

MGS2 and 4 were great games too, although I admit when I first got MGS2 I never did get into it. It was only about a year or two ago that I went back and played it, and I loved it.

MGS4 did seem to focus more on set pieces after chapter 1 though, which was a shame, but I enjoyed the story.

I am a veteran of the mgs series and MGS4 blew me away all the more since I've played the older ones.

The original Metal Gear had so many flaws...just watch the Angry Video Game Nerd episode on it
But its still a classic

The NES version svcks, although it's not the worst one. The C64 and PC versions was worse than the NES. Atlest the MSX version is decent which lets you fight Metal Gear atleast(even though that fight svcks):

MGS3 and MGS1 were personally my favorite out in MGS series. MGS2 was another good game, the only thing I didn't like about it is the part Raiden is naked and a sum amount of people thought that you was going to play as Snake until his chapter end. MGS4 was good, but it was it was too short andI feel like I'm watching a movie... an epic movie than playing a game. Never played the original Metal Gear on the NES nor the other prequels (like Peace Walker) nor the spin-offs (like Ac!d).

MGS3 was fantastic too. The surviving features were awesome.

I love in certain boss battle, you can feed your opponent rotten food. They're like, "Oh... what the hell?!" And for the hell of it, I love throwing live animals like a Cobra on guards or killing a guard with a poisonous spider or snake without wasting ammunition.

Or in the battle with The End you can be a total dike and eat his pet parrot.

...a new Zone of the Enders :P

This man speaks the truth

MGS' are pretty fun games. 4 was unfortunately too much a movie and the gameplay parts too much of a shooter. But atleast you got Crying Wolf's railgun

MGS3-Best game in the series. Doesn't manage to ruin any of it's own game elements or anything like that.

MGS-Second-best. Would have been better with features from the newer games, like locker hiding, and other gameplay improvements.

MGS2-gameplay improved from MGS, repetitive enviroments was not bothersome for me. Ultimately, ending was far too bizzare for it's own good.

MGS4-Great gameplay mechanics and concepts that were COMPLETELY butchered by the level design. Short as hell levels, incredibly long cinematics that seem to make up the majority of the game's length, and the complete abandonment of the whole warzone concept by the third act (and normal humans by the 4th) ruined the gameplay experience. A major dissapointment considering that the new gameplay mechanics and tweaked older ones would have made a great game had the levels been longer, designed better, etc.

I think the MGS series is very mixed. There are some games I enjoyed greatly and others I enjoyed not so much.

MGS1 <- Brilliant
MGS3 <- Quite fun
MGS4 <- Not really recommended unless you rather watch a film than play a game.
MGS2 <- Absolutely horrible (such a shame too, considering the E3 2000 trailer was absolutely brilliant)

I'm gonna' have to echo Wingus about MGS4. The cutscenes were long and obnoxious, but I thought the gameplay was easily the best in the series. Took everything great from its predecessors, cut out some of the fat (no more flipping through menus to change camo), throws in a ton of great set pieces and boss fights, and keeps itself varied throughout. And it's the first game in the series to have some decent shooting mechanics (as well as gun customization :D). Regardless, I'm finished with the series, as well, not remotely interested in the PSP titles or Rising, and honestly wish poor Kojima could just work on something else already.

What I want Konami to do now is a new Suikoden and a new Zone of the Enders :P

[censored], yes, on both these series! Neither just get the love or attention they deserve. :(

I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of MGS 2 and 3. I liked the story of 4, mostly because it ties up all loose ends. I swear that game should get an Oscar. :P
