Installing Daggerfall?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:08 am

I know there must a million and one threads about this, but I'm completely confuzzled. Could someone tell me how I should go about installing? I've been trying, and failing for ages now, so I've decided to delete the folders, and start again, I have the zip file ready, and I need help from here :). (I have DosBox installed of course).

I have the "Dagger" and "DFCD" files. nothing more. I can't find any good help around the internet, with people telling me to do crap and not explaining it. I'm usually quite competant with stuff like this, I'm just failing for some reason. Thanks ^_^

2) After DOSBox is installed, navigate to its entry in the Start Menu (DOSBox-0.73) and then select “Configuration,” and then “Edit Configuration.” If you have used DOSBox before, it may be best to run “Reset Configuration” first before running “Edit Configuration.”

What is this? I don't ven know where to find configuration. This is what I mean by the vague instructions I keep finding.

EDIT: I'm also being told that I don't have enough space on my hard drive when I try to install hte "Huge" 450mb file. I have 326gb though.

Did you use the -freesize 1000 command when you mounted your hard drive? That would solve your space problem.

Ok, I've done everything the guide says to install daggerfall, i've installed it in huge size, i've copied the vids across, i've run dag213, i've edited z.cfg so that it points to c:\dagger\dagger\arena2 (which happens to be where I've installed it) for both path and cdpath, and I type fall.exe z.cfg and I get a C++ runtime error which says... never mind... I removed the extra dagger from the path in z.cfg and it's running fine... so far...
