Playing Daggerfall on Mac OSX

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:52 am

I would like to play Daggerfall. Unfortunately, I'm a computer noob, so I don't understand the directions. I've got DOSBox 0.73 and two folders, each titled "DAGGER" and "DFCD". And that is as far as I've gotten. What do I do now? I need step-by-step instructions here...

And lo, the skies did part, and a Spotted Owl did descend.

"Hark!" he cried. "I have heard thine plea, and bestow upon thee a great gift, which, had thoust had forethought, would have seen pinned at the top of this very forum.

"For unto thee I give http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=479044&st=0&p=6877868&#entry6877868. Read it well, forumer, and heed its content."

Okay, so Freddo doesn't speak like that, but, yeah, there's your answer in that there link.

Those won't work for a Mac, even if he follows them step-by-step. The mount points are slightly different.

I am doing this from memory (I sold my Mac), but I believe instead of doing
mount c c:\dos (or whatever)

it would be
mount c ~/dos

I'm pretty sure that would mount a "dos" directory in your user folder as the virtual C drive. If you're in terminal, everything is case sensitive, but I'm not sure if it matters in the "dosbox.conf" file.

I also realize this probably doesn't help the original poster out a lot. Sorry, it's my bedtime.

Alaisiagae, I've already looked at those directions and tried them. They didn't work. Also, I didn't understand them very well... And Taemos, you were right, that didn't help very much [laughs].

Here is an explanation, with video, of how to use http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCJVKwZcip8 to bring Daggerfall up on a Mac.

Aw man. :sadvaultboy:

Well, I didn't know that you already knew about the guides. I don't know anything about the Mac OS. :frog:
