I followed the official Bethesda instructions (Daggerfall) to the best of my ability (lost my disc! so I'm using the downloaded version, unfortunately. Still have the box and manual though...).
When I go...

C:\DAGGER> DAGGER

It tells me I inserted the wrong CD...

Any help?

Go into your z.cfg (in your Daggerfall directory--open it with notepad) and set the pathcd directory to the same thing as your path directory.

Make sure the directories match when you mount a C drive in DOSBox.

When running Daggerfall, run "fall.exe z.cfg"

If you followed the http://static.gamesas.com/downloads/games/daggerfall_legal_and_installation.pdf, the "wrong CD" error generally happen because of two reasons.

• You're using an older version of DOSBox than 0.73, the solution is to download the latest release of DOSBox.
  
• When you mount the CD in DOSBox, the "-label Daggerfall" part is case sensitive. You must write Daggerfall, not daggerfall or dAGGERFALL or anything else.

I am, indeed, running DOSBox 7.2, due to 7.3's lack of intergrated config file. Should I apply Scampers' method, would this function?

Which 0.73 lacks. >> 0.72 >> Config
0.73 >> no config

Whenever I try to follow the instructions provided in videos, the configuration file fails to appear.

All Programs->DosBox 0.73->Configuration->Edit Configuration

0.73 stores the config file here-

C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application Data\DOSBox

You need to save the Daggerfall.cfg to-

C:\Program Files\DOSBox-0.73

To get the shortcut in the sticky working.

I cannot find those directories...

Download DFend Reloaded, it's a frontend program for DOSBox that configures games in a GUI and saves those configurations for later use. I use it and it works just fine. Much easier than messing around with config files..

I couldn't get the CD problem to go away until I modified the z.cfg file. It seems to work fine, though.

I'll look into that. However, I found my disc. Too bad I uninstalled 0.72

Daggerfall works! I'll write a letter of praise latter.
Can anyone tell me how to autorun it?

Also, how do you change an application's icon? I'd like to turn the DOSBOX app into a Daggerfall start up with appropriate icon.
