Can't Leave The Sewers

I've reached the gate leading out of the sewers in the intro. When I click on the gate, it gives me the usual choices of editing my selections or leaving the sewers. I try to leave the sewers, and for some reason, I get a message saying I can't go that way. It then shows the land beyond the sewer entrance for a brief moment, then i'm back to looking at the gate again. I've played Oblivion before and i've never had this problem. I don't know if it has to do with a mod i'm using or not. Here's the list of mods i'm currently using:

I* moved all the UL mods to the bottom as well as any UL patches for other mods i'm using. I also moved Lost Spires to the bottom, so it would look something like this:

I'm also not that familiar with Wrye Bash. Many mods give me a suggested bashed patch tag. I have absolutely no idea what that means or how to do it, and the Wrye Bash tutorial page is confusing. My main concern is finding out why I can't leave the sewers. If anyone can give me a basic idea of what the bashed patch tags are and how to do that as well as advice on whether I should merge leveled lists/objects (if possible and if necessary) , that would be very helpful. Actually, any help in doing ANY of the Wrye Bash related actions on this list would be fantastic. I'm somewhat familiar with Wrye Mash in terms of list merging, but i'm sure this is a little different. Any ideas? Suggestion? Help?

You are missing MMMforOOO.esm for starters. You may have an out of date MMM.

Also, a better way of giving a load order is to use Wrye Bash and right click the headers in the mods tab and choose "List Mods". That list gives more information including version numbers.

You may be able to get around the message problem by turning off borders in the INI, but first make sure your MMM is up to date and then repost your load order with the Wrye Bash version. Add it to your first post and wrap "spoiler" tags around it....They're in the "Other styles" dropdown box.

I hope I did that spoiler thing correctly. I use OBMM for my load order, and it looked a lot different than the Wrye Bash list. I'm not exactly sure how to turn the borders off in the .ini. I already had MMMforOOO. I 'upgraded' my MMM to the 3.7b3 Public Release version. I've never used that version of MMM before, so i'm not sure what problems i'll run into, if any.

Your OOO needs to be updated to 1.34b5. See the OOO thread to pick that up.

Your MMM looks like it didn't get installed properly. Only one of the files is showing the 3.7pr3 version number, which indicates the others are older versions. I'd highly recommend uninstalling MMM completely, and then build a new OMOD using the 3.7pr3 package, the 3.7BSA file and TheNiceOne's omod script (all available in the MMM thread if you are missing any of them).

Looks like your Cobl could use an update as well.

There are two ini settings for borders:
bBorderRegionsEnabled=0
bEnableBorderRegion=0

edit: take the "/" out of the first spoiler tag, and wrap the load order in your first post with them as well, or just delete it if you wish.

I'm going to upgrade OOO to version 1.34b5 and Cobl as well. As far as building an OMOD, I am completely clueless on how to do that. I only found bEnableBorderRegion in the .ini file. I changed that to 0 anyway, but I still couldn't leave the sewers.


Edit: By the way, what is the latest Cobl version available?

Your Oblivion is updated to 1.2.0416, right? The latest patch? (Game of the Year edition is already updated to this, so don't worry if you have that one).

Cobl has 1.72 version out, and there's an update patch for 1.70 to 1.72 which will probably work to update yours as well.

The ini file you changed: Was that the Oblivion.ini in your "My Documents/My Games/Oblivion" folder or the Oblivion_default.ini in the Oblivion folder itself? Never touch the Oblivion_default.ini, only change the one in My Games.

There are instructions for building the OMOD included with the MMM OMOD file that TheNiceOne created, simple step by step and very, very useful.

this is probably a conflict between Stirk and OOO (or another border-editing mod). bBorderRegionsEnabled needs to be set to 0 in the My Documents/My Games/Oblivion/ ini file.

Ok. I've upgraded all of the required mods (MMM, OOO and Cobl). I looked at my Oblivion.ini in My Games and didn't see any of those entries. :\ Am I supposed to add them myself? And if it's a conflict between Stirk and OOO, should I delete Stirk? Or does removing the borders fix that problem?

Removing the borders should fix the problem.

I don't know why you don't have those entries, though.

Maybe you should rename your INI to BAK and then run the OblivionLauncher.exe to make a new ini, just to be sure?

removing borders will definitely fix this problem, and prevent similar conflicts in the future. do a search for them and create a new ini just to be sure. however, i believe it should be OK to just add that entry.

Ok. I only found bEnableBorderRegions in the Oblivion.ini after I made a new one using the OblivionLauncher.exe, which was located under '[Main]'. I manually added the other line after it. I have a question concerning BOSS. Does it actually put the mods in a correct load order? I assume it does, aside from the ones BOSS doesn't recognize. Here is the updated BOSS load order:

I noticed there were a few .esp's in there that might cause CTD's, so I deleted them (a baker for Cobl, MMM - Additional NPC Variants or something like that, MMM - G&G, and a few others I can't remember). Nothing I have at the moment was dependant on them. I noticed Deadly Reflex and Symphony Of Violence were mentioned as a possible CTD combination, but together they worked fine, at least initially. I'm mmor than willing to get rid of Dealy Reflex if I have to. Anyway, my problem is after I pick my face, eye color, etc. and get to the prison intro, all of these messages for new quests pop up. It seems there's too manyh at once maybe, and that could be crashing the game. I tried this with DR selected and not selected, and still kept crashing. Maybe I need to deactivate a mod (or mods) until after the intro? Another problem I seem to be having is my load order appears different. I move them in OBMM to how I want it, and it seems like when I open Wrye Bash, it goes back to the original way (the way listed according to the list above). I know when I first installed Wrye Bash it asked if I wanted to disable the option to keep them in that order. I said yes. I'm not sure what's going on. On the bright side, I figured out how to use the 'spoiler' option.

Edit: I was also curious to know how I add mods to the BOSS masterlist, if that's possible.

Edit: Another idea I just had is to disable some of the quest mods so they wouldn't display their messages at the very beginning. Maybe give it some time to recooperate, so to speak. I can fix saved games in Wrye Mash, but Wrye Bash is a bit different. If this would clear up the issue, please let me know how do fix the saves in WB as well.


Edit: Ok. The game apparently autosaved during these messages, so I started it from there. It seemed to have worked thus far. Only thing is, I still can't leave the sewers. I get the message telling me that I cannot go that way, and must turn back. As mentioned above, I added the missing entry to the Oblivion.ini found in My Games/Oblivion:

Add the first one in the [General] section, right after: bExternalLODDataFiles=1

Add the second one to [Main] as the first entry in that section.

BOSS masterlist is a text file, and you can add entries yourself in any text editor. You should also report any unrecognized mods in the BOSS thread, where you can also find links to the latest versions of the masterlist.

There's also a tool for Word 2007 or 2010 the Boss Masterlist Manager that automates updates of the masterlist and allows you to easily add your own files to the list.

You should look up some "quest mod delayers" on TESNexus. They will prevent some of the larger mods from starting automatically and allow you to sort of "discover" the quests in a more natural way.

I assume there's some reason for the sections, and you said that having them both in [Main] didn't work. The actual order in each section shouldn't matter, but them being in the right section probably does.

By the way, showler, I did find a mod called 'Quest Delayers' by statttis on TESNexus, but it only contained a quest delayer for the Heart Of The Dead. On the other hand, there are some delayers created by Aellis for The Lost Spires and Real Sleep Extended found on PES. I've added a few other realism mods so i'm going to start a new game.
