Would you like gambling in skyrim?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:08 pm

Not that kinda gambling. But it would be a cool game in a tavern to maybe throw knives? xD make a bet with people and throw knives att a doll on the wall or something, hit the heart or forehead. The AI should provide a good opponent too, so another NPC can actually throw good too.

This is appropriate for Skyrim as well as fist-fights, hunting and log tossing. Poker and Black-Jack are appropriate for Red Dead Redemption.
Maybe there can be different games for Mages, Warriors and Thieves.

Some kind of gambling is always fun, as long as it′s lore appropriate

I liked pazzak in KOTOR, I understood how to play that. In regards to Fallout:NV, I have no idea how to play caravan. I tried twice, reading the rules and I got whooped each time and I had to bet a lot of credits (very early in the game so 150 caps is a lot)!

I voted no based soley on the fact that I don't want a caravan type game that I have to learn for no reason other than an in game application. Pazaak was very similar to blackjack so I knew what the heck I was doing.

I understood gambling in New Vegas 'cause it fits the theme. I dont really care for it in this game and I usually skip gambling minigames.

Not really, had enough of these games in New Vegas - and didn't even really play them much.

This. They were amusing for about...5 minutes. I got more time out of pondering how much developer time was spent on them than I did out of playing them.

And for all the "Yea, but not real life games... Rather some kind of fantasy ones!" voters- yeah, don't get me started on Caravan...what a waste of dev time there.

Gambling would be fun, but I think conventional card games are pushing it a tad: especially since we just had New Vegas. How about a competitive game of darts, or knife throwing?

Liar's Dice was pretty fun in Red Dead Redemption. I'd like to see that, Poker, Blackjack and anything else Bethesda can come up with....
...Shells anyone?

Texas Hold'Em is ligit so I won't complain if they add it randomly in there lol. But I agree that they should throw in a unique gambling game that is fun and also possibly have a few side quests for it. Like Casino Royal... Without the Tux...,the guns.... The Aston Martin..,, and most likely Texas Hold'Em :/

I don't think blackjack and dice games are very lore-friendly.

Betting games such as arena battles, (or maybe animal vs animal battles) would be cool.

I would have watched the arena fights in Oblivion more if I could have bet more on them. 100 gold wasn't very much :/

no thank you. Id rather gamble in real life or at LEAST against real people. Its been done in countelss games, and I do not recall ever once enjoying the experience. Its gimmicky but not in a good way.

Wasnt fun in NV... wont be fun now

As long as it doesn't feel like the only thing you can do in a bar, (yes I'm looking at you red dead redemption), then it would be awesome! Rather not poker or blackjack, there's no need for there to be a single card in the game, but it could have something to do with magic, were as you'd get better at the magic gambling games with bigger knowledge about magic. Likewise, there should be games for rogue types of characters and warrior type of characters. If attributes are in, I have an idea that is at the basic of it's evolution:
Arm wrestling could be determined by many factors, not only your skill as a player, neither only strength, but a combination of strength, endurance, agility and your skill as a player. Agility could let you react faster to the "start wrestling now" call, while endurance would let you stay longer in the game and strength would determine how much progress you make with each successful "push".

Don't forget that you could place money on an arena match in Oblivion. That does count as gambling.

Personally, I don't care, as long as it's not Vegas style gambling. I've had enough of that already.
