I guess the poll speaks for itself, so have fun. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

I added some suggestions from the audience back into the poll, hope that helps!

What I voted:
Yes - because I want the wind to pick up (anime style) when mages cast powerful spells
Yes - because Radiant Story could use this effect wherever needed
Yes - when dragons land/roar/take off, there should be earthquakes
Yes - because Radiant Story could use this effect wherever needed
Yes - it would be cool to see NPC's celebrating these special days by gathering to tell stories and or have a feast in their towns
Yes - the Mages Guilds would offer special quests on these days that coincide with the alignments because they provide a window of opportunity no other day can match

i thought the other questions would pertain to where we would like to see more cinematics in skyrim I.E. quests, main story only, whenever radiant story thinks it would give a dynamic effect etc.

You are a mage and were adventuring all night and took a quick nap to refresh yourself and recharge your mana pool. You intended to sleep until 10am but are awakened at 7am suddenly by a courier standing before you holding an envelope with a seal on it from the Mages Guild. His eyes look dark and he silently waiting for you to pay him the usual Courier fees. You pay him his 2 gold and he hands you the letter. When you reach to take it, the wind suddenly gusts, throwing the letter toward your campfire! You quickly run over and add it to your inventory with a gasp of panic. You open it at once and your quest journal updates with a quest "Return to the Mages Guild ASAP!"

The letter reads "Novitiate, today there will be a Solar Eclipse, a most powerful solar alignment which will have very strange effects upon all of Skyrim. You have only 3 hours to return to the Mages Guild in ____ or miss your chance for a grand adventure and a potential windfall of arcane mystical knowledge. Come now or you may regret it later! We await you.... Sincerely Drueghar the Dunmar, High Council of Mages. P.S.: for the next several hours prior to the Eclipse do not attempt to cast any buff spells, or you'll be taking your life is your hands! " ....

You close the letter and look up at the sun and as you do the Earth trembles in anticipation, and notice that the moon is edging toward it ever so slowly. You know something serious is about to happen today. You hastily pack your things and take to the open road.

You have to pass through a small town on the way to the Mages Guild and as you arrive you notice several huge tables have been erected and there are tons of people cooking food together and singing Nordic songs from the elder scrolls of long-buried lore about the return of the dragons and the one who would come to vanquish them. You hear them talking openly about how the Eclipse is a sign of his return to all the people's of Tamriel. You smile to yourself upon hearing this and for seeing these festivities and you wish you could stay to watch the feast unfold, but you're just too curious about the mission before you. Can you get back there in time? The Mages Guild has called you to return at once, that has never happened to you before. What could this mean? And what's so special about this day? What will happen today?

Just then a several dragons pass over the town in a herde, travelling together, all at once toward some destination in the South. They are flying at full speed. They roar as one, and the ground shakes around you in warning of their tremendous power. The singing from the town goes quiet for a moment and just when you think the town will vanish in a frenzy of dragonfear, the music picks back up, a bit quicker than before, a bit more nervous and uncertain than before, but with a bravery that makes you smile yet again. You shake your head and press forward again toward those dark towers and the enpowered ones that guard them.

Just a taste of the idea in action ...

The first two I agree on and the last one with the celebration would make my RPing so much better and more enjoyable it would also put more life into the game if it had holidays

Votes:
1) Yes, because it adds style to the game. Even an iteration title like Dynasty Warriors 6 has it. Bethesda should pick up the pace

2) Yes, because when the Greybeards speak, the world will shake. That's in the lore. And make the ground shake when a big dragon lands please :D

3) No. random stuff like that is not useful. Better make festivals at those days than mess with mana usage

Yes yes and yes - although for the last one I'd only like to see NPC festivals and such, with no effects on mage characters.
I should add that I'm not really expecting to see any of these in game though - apart from the ground shaking when dragons touch down and when the greybeards shout your name to the winds (trying to keep my hopes down so as not to be disappointed because I expected to see every good idea posted :P ).

Todd has already said the world will crumble and shake when the Greybeards find out you're Dovahkiin, but earthquakes could be relevant since if there are volcanoes, there are likely tectonic plate borders nearby. I'd love astronomical features like eclipses, aurora borealis etc. so every day doesn't feel the same. Other than that holidays must be included.

- No, making wind effect cloth would probably be WAY to hard to add to armor I mod in... same reason I don't like voice acting, when someone makes mods then there won't be any good voice acting and this will make the mod, compared to the remaining game, be bad...

Yes - Wind should cause a wind chill factor and coldness should be similar to FO3 radiation level. Clothes, flags, and particles should act as an indicator. Night, cold location, and wind is a problem, stay dry! :)
Yes - Earthquakes but generalized to camera shake similar to what we have in Arma2. Dragons walking nearby etc, but could be coupled to anything. I'd like to keep it to natural causes though.
Yes - Celestial events (meteor showers, aurora borealis) hooked to dates, but keep magic out of it. *Are* there eclipses on nirn at all? New game mechanics to help pass time so we can experience seasons.

I love the people that make up these forums. Hahaha. Even when they disagree with you they have logical or at least interesting reasons to support their viewpoint and I really enjoy being a part of this place. This is just not normal :whisper: , hahaha . I'm afraid to brag to my friends about this forum for fear it should change when they get here and make me look foolish ...

Having more cinematics would cause the developers to have to make cuts on other things. So I say no to this, unless they are able to do this and not make any cuts then I'm all for it.

Yes, Yes but only when dragons come and not even then anything huge.

While the last idea sounds like somehting I read about in a couple of my fantasy books, I like it. I voted no however, but it sounds interesting, not sure how it works when it comes to TES lore. Stick to the lore BGS! :disguise:

Yes, Yes, No.

While the last idea is cool, it wouldn't really fit in with the lore. The sun and stars aren't what we think of as celestial bodies, but rather rips between Nirn's realm and Oblivion. (Specifically Aetherius)

I suppose technically it's possible for Masser or Secunda to move in front of these tears, but it's never been mentioned in lore before and we don't know how gravity (orbits) works here. (If there even is gravity.)

And even if there were celestial events such as this, it wouldn't effect Magicka use. A moon sitting between Nirn and Oblivion isn't going to stop the magic flow between the realms.
