Ack! Missing Eye!

Okay. So I have an issue.

I was looking through the different tabs in the "race" window; looking through the Dark Elf race, specifically. Well, I was under "Face Data" and I clicked on "Eye Left" and if you don't select anything and just back out of that new box which appears (the one that prompts you to select a file for the slot) it will not keep the Left Eye file that was there, it removes it from the slot. I hadn't realized it at the time and I went to close the Race window so I clicked "Ok" instead of cancel. A box appeared saying "Are you sure you want to make these changes?" I had made other slight adjustments to the race so I clicked "ok" in order to keep the changes. Little did I know, every Dark Elf in the game is now missing their left eye.

I cannot find the file anywhere, so I cannot give dark elves their left eye back.

Any suggestions?

I've already created a bunch of stuff elsewhere in the plug-in so I would really like to avoid the idea of started anew.

Assuming you haven't changed anything else in the Race (intentionally)...

File --> Load --> Your Plugin. Do not Click OK. Click 'Details'. Scroll to "Race", "DarkElf", and click "Delete", confirm. It should now ignore the changes.

If you're editing the race intentionally, you could make a copy of the Right Eye, change the name, and use it as a false path, then just remove the copy to make it use the default eye from the .bsa file.

I've had this problem locating the dds and nif files for other races, as well...

Luckily, I just figured out the filepath! You'll need the Oblivion Mod Manager's BSA browser. In your start menu, it should be located in the OMM folder.

Open it up, then click on "open" in the bottom left corner. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data then select "Oblivion - Textures - Compressed.bsa" (Or whichever file name... You're looking for the one with "compressed" in it)

After that, you should receive a long list of all the DDS files for the game. Find the one you're looking for, select it, click extract (and extract it somewhere you'll remember), and you should be good to go!

Note that it is a HUGE list, so it may take a bit of hunting. x3 Good luck!
