[RELz] Enclave Improvement Project (v2)

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:21 am

Decided to make a thread for my rather unknown faction mod, which allows you to join the Enclave and help it take over the Wasteland.

In short, it's a mod that allows you to join the Enclave if you first ask Eden why he chose you to be his instrument of annihilation. Eden ultimately gives you two tasks: To use the FEV in the purifer and to take out Colonel Autumn and his rogue forces. Afterwards, you are given the option to join the Enclave, and Raven Rock is open for business. Colonel Autumn's office will be your base of operations and you will have a personal assistant - Sgt. Mayfield, who gives you quests (two at the moment) to expand the Enclave's authority in the Wasteland. Put short, they involve shooting and dialogue and the reward is Enclave troops patrolling Wasteland settlements. Betraying the Brotherhood is an essential part of EIP's expansion quests, notably taking over the Citadel and converting it to a Enclave outpost with very similar daily routines and services.

Description:
===============

This is the Enclave Improvement Project. A project which I began a long time ago.
In short this is about letting your character join the Enclave, in the most lore-friendly way possible.
Besides this the mod gives you access to two extra sidequests, which I tell more about later.

This mod is a response to my another Enclave mod in-development, The Eagle Has Landed which is a MQ replacement mod.
This one on the other hand allows the Lone Wanderer to join the Enclave, instead of "being born" into it.

===============
Details:
===============

There are four quests in this mod so far. One that handles joining the Enclave, two that handle expanding it and one that handles the FEV.
I'll elaborate:

1) Joining the Enclave
- This quest starts in the discussion with President Eden. To trigger it you must ask why he won't send Col. Autumn to do his dirty work. Eden asks you to poison the Purifier and take care of Colonel Autumn. Once you've done these tasks and completed the Fallout 3 original campaign, you can choose to join the Enclave once you recover in the Citadel.
See Walkthrough for most pressing information.

2) Consolidating Power
- This quest starts in Raven Rock, in Colonel Autumn's former office. You need to talk to Sgt Mayfield, your personal assistant, and simply ask what to do.
This quest allows you to establish Enclave outposts in 3 Wasteland settlements: Megaton, Tenpenny Tower and the Citadel.
For further info you might want to see the walkthrough again. This quest is very simple but there are parts where you might need pointers.

3) The Dud
- Aimed at players who don't like FEV, this quest allows you to reverse the virus which in Broken Steel lore turned out to be a dud instead of killing everyone.
To start this quest see Lt. Col. Arnold in Raven Rock level 2's laboratory. Other than that, consult the walkthrough again unless you want to try it yourself.
Nevertheless completing this quest disables the killing effect of Aqua Pura.

2) Consolidating Power Pt. II
- Much like Pt. I, this involves taking over settlements and strategic locations for the Enclave, and thus having Enclave soldiers and scientist take over. This time it's Big Town, Republic of Dave, Washington Memorial and Project Purity!

Note that you can re-establish Enclave field outposts after you complete Pt. II

===============
Future Plans:
===============

- An Enclave Civilian outfit, as they existed in Fallout 2
- Establishing Enclave research/civilian stations in "Founding Father"
- More life in Raven Rock - Civilian quarters and - well - civilians.
- Follower Autumn incorporated into EIP.
- Dialogue with President Eden (currently a medium WIP priority)
- Consolidating Power Pt. III, to establish control in D.C. ruins.
- "Founding Father Pt. II", where you reconstruct(!) some Wasteland locations for Enclave use (like Capitol!)
- More Enclave generic dialogue
- Enclave water caravans and wasteland patrols.

History:
===============

2 2.19.2011
- Rewritten Joining the Enclave quest. You no longer need unnecessary friendly fire to do it! Just take care of Autumn and poison the Purifier. VoilĂ !
- Sgt. Mayfield no longer gets butchered by your bodyguards.
- Added a minor dialogue for Eden. A non-fanon placeholder at the moment.
- Added a new quest, and improved the old ones.
- Fixed a number of small bugs (like double bed in Raven Rock office)

1.2 9.7.2010
- Fixed a crash-causing (?) bug in the Citadel following Enclave takeover.
- Did a number of new things and bug fixes, hopefully fixing any serious game breakers.

To those who played EIP and conquered the Citadel in 1.1, I recommend reloading a pre-EIP save if possible and with console commands (instructions included in download) redo your EIP progress.

1.1 23.6.2010
- Created mutant blood collector, 2nd Lieutenant Chenzy
- Created dog tag collector, doctor Curtis LeMay.
* Both are in Citadel ring A after Enclave takeover.
- Dummied out Eden's new, unfinished and unvoiced lines.
- Fixed bug in stages not being set in sidequest "The Dud"
- Fixed bug in Consolidating Power where convincing Simms wouldn't work.
- Opened Raven Rock's steel door and removed invisible barrier after joined the Enclave.
- Removed most of the goons in Raven Rock level 1. They served no purpose after your escape from Raven Rock.

Kudos to RoninJr for bug hunting

1.0 4.6.2010 - Initial Release

Interesting. How does this interact with the Broken Steel content if you join the Enclave? I assume the quests wouldn't be available anymore?

Brotherhood content is available up until the moment you openly declare war upon them, since your deal with Eden remains secret until you march into the Citadel and order Elder Lyons to surrender (he refuses - of course - so you have to kill him and every other big Brotherhood character)

In earlier versions I had the player complete Broken Steel's quests, but in the version I just released I scrapped it since Enclave's new commander shooting hordes of Enclave soldiers didn't make sense.

Obviously, completing Broken Steel quests will become difficult and buggy since you will be allied to both sides. In next versions I will find a way to have Broken Steel content (Tesla Cannon, Satellite Relay Station, Liberty Prime dying...) without the need of Broken Steel quests. So as of now just don't touch them :)

Glad to see this is still being worked on, as I have been peeking in on it on the Nexus for awhile now. Probably still going to be holding off a little longer for some of the still planned content to come in (mainly addressing the Broken Steel things), but I think this will make for a welcome addition to the game.

Alright, that sounds very nice. And the Enclave are rather tough, especially with the mods I'm using, so I wouldn't mind having them on my side. :P

Shame I've just completed Broken Steel with my current character.

I will likely be solving the BS things in near days (starting today and continuing to next week) so the Broken Steel content shouldn't be a problem if you just can refrain yourself from doing them for now.

And of course, I am open to suggestions on how to handle BS content. Killing Liberty Prime is a priority here.

That's not a problem.
If you need to join the Enclave with a post-BS character, you need just two console commands:

SetStage EIPQuest 5
SetStage EIPQuest 100

and for flavor, pick Eden's message from your Megaton/Tenpenny home after using the first command.

This looks pretty cool, I must admit, being a BoS supporter :P Surely going to have to try this out some time (Love quest lines like this). After playing the original fallouts, the Enclave are pretty cool so yeah good luck with the mod!

EIP allows you to side with the Brotherhood - joining the Enclave is never forced upon you. The only change is that Liberty Prime won't destroy Raven Rock.

I can refrain with no issues, I am still well off from that point with having so many difficulty amping mods in my game (FWE and such), so I look forward to grabbing this in a few days and adding it to my load list.

As for suggestion, to be honest, Broken Steel is one of the only Expansions I never completed vanilla (did the base game, PL, MZ, and Pitt) - so OA and BS will both be new to me this time around (thus why I will wait til the BS deal is all resolved, cause likely by the time I get there I will have forgotten any specifics about how to handle things).

Oh I think it is a problem, since I kinda

I may disagree with you on many points but damn this looks good, only wish I had a computer to play it on. :( Tell me, do you address anything to do with the Enclaave's numbers?
