Noisy Iguanas

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:49 am

By the teats of my grandmother, can these iguanas be less cacophonous? I believe it is MMM that is doing it ( the other possibility is FWE ). It seems that every time I get out of Megaton radius there is an unseen iguana sending its squishy walk sound for all to know its presence. I found the sound files in Data\Sound\FX\MMMF3\FNNIguana\Iguana\foot and used Audacity to lower their volumes to 10% of their base, but it has no effect in game. Again and again, that slimey fapping sound from an iguana taking a stroll. I think the creator deliberately arranged for this so that we would be disposed to kill each and every iguana and gain an iguana bits from the carcass.

Use the audio from the original http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13537 mod. They like to sneak up on me.

Yea, I find the Iguana sound way too loud for what it is. The amount of times I jumped up in alert looking for the monster coming for me to just see a stupid little Iguana- and they`re everytwhere making me jump for no reason. Their walk is as loud as something 3 times their size! The only thing of MMM (I presume) that`s really silly. I even got so fed up I started shooting them.

Thanks for the cure, ghoulsrpeople2. Will try it.

p.s. I didnt even know there was a whole Iguana quest Mod!

p.p.s Only question is where in the FX and Voice do I drop the files as they do not appear to be named the same in the game files?

I believe Martigen posted that it was fine to install the entire Iguana's mod over MMM and have the quest as well.

Memory foggy on that.

Strange that the file paths don't match what MMM has.

I made a BAIN package out of the original mod and added just the sound files as a sub-package and installed them - it worked the iguanas are only heard when underfoot.

I use the Iguanas quest mod in addition to MMM as I enjoy the quest as well as the additional iguanas but if you didn't want the quest, it should work to just not activate the FNNIguana.esm.

Thanks all. I just dropped the whole Mod in according to the Readme. Everything seems to be A OK. Although the Iguanas have vanished (probably for the Quest).

I think I'm the only player that doesn't mind how loud they are. If I couldn't hear them I wouldn't know they were around most of the time. Whenever I hear one I can decide if I want to go over to see it and watch it wander around. I love them. I did play the Iguana quest mod first, before they were put into MMM, and it does have lots of fun stuff in it. Maybe that's why.

Well, I installed the Iguanas 1.2, but there are still iguanas loudly roaming the wasteland. They should have disappeared after I slept for four days ( FWE respawn 3 days ). I will now try fiddling with the sound files in the Iguanas 1.2 sound folder. Wrye Flash suggested that I not activate the FNNIguana - FWE compatibility patch and merge it instead. Should I not have done that? Perhaps I should go into the MMM settings and turn off iguanas, as FNNIguana.esm will take it from here on?

From the Iguanas 1.2 description page, I think you can set the iguana spawns. It is 50% by default which means that 50% of all wasteland spawns produce 1-3 iguanas. You want a lower percentage for less iguanas so you would type in the console

set FreeFormIguana.SpawnChance to 30

The instructions weren't precise so I'm only guessing what should be typed. If I had my way I'd lower it to 20 or 10. I'm going to try activating the FNNIguana - FWE.esp instead of merging it.
