typical region generation time

I'm generating a region that covers an island that takes up about 2/3 of my small world space. It's been going about 24 hours now and I'm wondering if this is normal. I'm using win7 and have gotten the "not responding" message which from what I've read on the construction set wiki is normal. My task manager shows the program is still using around 25% CPU and the memory is still fluctuating, so I'm assuming the program is still running. I'm running on and intel i3 at 3.2 GHz with 6 gigs of ram. Should I just let the construction kit take its sweet time?

Region generation can take a long time, depending on reference density and the number of cells. It took my pc 11 hours to generate a region with a slightly above average number of references. I don't remember the exact size of the region (it was years ago) but it was at least a couple hundred cells. Then again, my pc is 6 years old. If your region uses a lot of references (objects like trees and rocks) it will take a long time.

Edit: The 'not responding' message is normal, so it's probably still generating.
