TESV Multiplayer

First post. Not sure if this belongs in the suggestion thread... I think it's broad enough to warrant its own thread.

Let me start by saying I enjoyed TES:O because it was a single player game. I wasn't looking for a MMORPG experience from the TES series. I think a TES MMORPG, if ever made, should not (NOT) be instead of a traditional SP TESV.

However, I would like to see some form of limited MP support in the next TES game. Nothing fancy, just some way for maybe 4 friends to LAN it up and crawl some dungeons together.

This wouldn't effect the story, as TES games tend to have rather optional story lines :).

Could effect balance though, if a dungeon is designed to be taken by one character having two could be too easy.

If an Elder Scrolls MMORPG is in developement then presumably Bethesda's sister-company Zenimax Online Studios is working on it so you don't need to worry about an Elder Scrolls MMO being made instead of TES V.

Adding multiplayer to one of Bethesda's sandbox RPGs is unlikely. In the past when explaining why Morrowind and Oblivion wouldn't get multiplayer they said that they wanted to devote all of their resources to making a great single player game rather than splitting their focus. Multiplayer is an extremely resource intensive feature to add and test and it's not something they could incorporate without taking resources from other aspects of the game developement. However while unlikely it certainly is a permissible topic here. The official thread can be a bit slow at times but it also has some really great discussions - just make sure you read over the first post before jumping in.

Welcome to the forums :)
