What happened? Jefferson Memorial Slideshow BBQ!

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 3:47 am

For some reason I can't hang around the Jefferson Memorial for long before it becomes a slideshow. In the past I've snuck around it without getting close with no issues before. It began when I spotted a supermutant behemoth standing on the railing with its back toward me. Approaching with my DKS-501 sniper, I proceeded to lay eight bottlecap mines. By the time I shot the behemoth with the sniper, framerate had plummeted.

After killing it I quicksaved, quit, and restarted Windows XP 64 bit. Loading the game up from just after killing the behemoth I found that I soon could not even look in the direction of Jefferson Memorial without severe framerate penalties. I've since paid the FWE transport to take me back to Megaton, which runs fine. My quicksave is 6.73 MB and I create a new save every level.

Sounds similar to something I was experiencing, but this was around dead Raiders after I took the bloody mess perk. All the dead, exploded, havoked bodyparts rolling all over the floor reduced my framerates drastically, untill it ctd'd. The fix was this mod
Your issue sounds similar, but I don't think mutants explode so much, plus your systems about 10,000 times better than mine :P

Thank you so much for a possible fix, but I don't have bloody mess and he didn't explode. But perhaps there were bodies that I missed from a previous extermination. Graphics are set to near max, btw, with anisotropic filtering samples at 10 and antialiasing at 2x. Maybe it is the distance sliders maxed...

Here are the links to the BOSS unrecognized mods:

Essential Amy Wong companion Modmod 1.0

amywongmodmod.esp
Because the Amy Wong Companion Mod introduces a number of npcs that are set to essential and unkillable, a problem arises when some of these ncps attack you on sight. This modmod for the Amy Wong Companion mod fixes that by setting them to non-essential. This includes Jacko Mercenary leaders, the merchant Silvia Breindel, and her two unnamed hunter cronies.

Vault Tech Geo Locators 1.0

VaultTechLocators.esp
Vault Tech Geo-Locators adds several portable map marker beacons to the Wasteland. There are currently five Geo-Locators scattered in locations around the world. None are active; you'll have to find them yourself. The first becon is located right outside of Vault 101, but the other four will need to be located in order to use them.

Visited Jefferson Memorial exterior again and circled the entire building. The problem did not return, framerate around the area was fine and steady for no good reason whatsoever. Very mysterious.

Oh, good it's not happening, but a shame you don't know the cause
