Changing Skill/Attribute Names

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 11:05 am

Been working on a big project recently, an overhaul and while it's not vital I'm curious if it would be possible to change the name of a skill or attribute, say, Security. No mechanical change, but just for flavor purposes is there a way to rename this to something like "Fumbling in the dark" or something? Is it also possible to outright delete attributes and/or skills if need be?

I can't seem to find this info anywhere so let me know if you have any idea how I might go about doing this.

Thanks,
Therbjorn

If you look http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Category:Settings, you can see a full list of in-game settings. These can be accessed and changed from the Gameplay --> Settings menu in the CS.

To change the names of skills, these are the ones you want to edit:

sSkillNameAcrobatics
sSkillNameAlchemy
sSkillNameAlteration
sSkillNameArmorer
sSkillNameAthletics
sSkillNameBlade
sSkillNameBlock
sSkillNameBlunt
sSkillNameConjuration
sSkillNameDestruction
sSkillNameHandToHand
sSkillNameHeavyArmor
sSkillNameIllusion
sSkillNameLightArmor
sSkillNameMarksman
sSkillNameMercantile
sSkillNameMysticism
sSkillNameRestoration
sSkillNameSecurity
sSkillNameSneak
sSkillNameSpeechcraft

You may want to peek around at various text snippets, such as skill descriptions and the like, and alter those to mirror your changes.

You cannot add or remove the skills themselves, as they are hardcoded.
