What..the heck..psn...

It svcks if you wanted to play MK or portal. I don't use PSN as much as live but I wanted MK on PS3, the service will comeback partially in less then a week. I doubt online play will be back to normal speed for almost a month and even work at all for another 2 weeks. Even if online MP is not up in a week code redemption most likely will be.

Since PSN first started, XBox live has had more 24+ hour downtime periods than PSN has had 12+ hour downtimes.

XBox live has had several times where it's been down more than 2 days, PSN has never been down before this for even a full 24 hours.

So far, this outage hasn't been as long as the XBox Live record of over 2 weeks, although it looks like we will overtake them on this one.

Good try though. ;) (also, Live's customer details haven't been successfully hacked, yet, so you have an argument there too. I'm just lucky my bank gave me a free replacement card)

svck it, Trebek.
SNL reference.

ANYWAYS, the PSN outage has more than damaged their credibility;
IT'S DAMAGING BRINK PS3 PRE-ORDERS!

I Had to yell that.

Think about it.
See how many people are paranoid about the PSN being down close to B-Day?

They're ruining their own sales with how long this repair is taking.

what really worries me, is how easy was for the hackers to brake psn, do whatever they wanted, and how sluggish was sony reactions.

Also We were told about problem 5 days after, this attitude in any other company dealing with personal data of any of the customers, would means a straight on " goodbye" for those responsible.

Makes me to wonder that Xbl was never compromised this way, looks like they have better specialists.

I hope psn will be back on Brink release but I wont bet any money it, or on the fact psn system will work properly.

I'm more concerned about those who claim that somebody is already using their credit cards. I hope those people will be okay in the end and the bad guys are found out.
I've had a close family member who's dealt with a similar situation and it was quite a process to go through.
I wouldn't wish this kind of thing on anybody.

I pray that everything will turn out fine for everybody in the end.

I want Playstation Plus for everyone as compensation (and give existing Playstation Plus users PSN vouchers).
I know that won't happen, and i would settle for it up within 7 days, an apology, refund any fraud that may have occured, and greatly improved security

Yes. But every PSN update takes 30 minutes. Live takes 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Thats been one of the major failing of sony in general, online.

Uhhmmm idk if you guys have noticed this or thought up of this but this PSN outage is like The South Park episode: "No internet" lol

Jokes aside, I'm willing to let Sony take the time to fix PSN as long as we are safe from hackers in the future.

I pre-ordered brink two days ago.

If PSN isnt up by time it comes out, i'll just play some single player and get some practise in.

Then own everything in my way :flamethrower::flame:

Same, but I actually can't help feeling bad of the whole hacker scenario.

Annnnnnd this is why i play xbox. :)

Im actually surprised that most PSN users dont know why the network is down. i only play xbox and i knew the first week it was down.

The PSN is down because some really smart person(s) hacked into their system and could retrieve information such as playstation usernames and passwords, YOUR names, dates of birth, addresses..ect.
They shut down the network because.. well... they needed to solve this problem and they were worried that the culprit(s) could have stolen credit card information.

What would be awesome though - PSN is still down when Brink comes out. :D so us xbox players can brag about how awesome the release will be :P
But you can always play the campaign!

I think this topic could be a little more productive if we stopped with the smirky "and this is why I play xbox lol" comments.

why are there 2 or 3 PSN threads? and everyone freaking out about identity theft needn't be worried. the CC info was encrypted, and everything was supposed to be taken in plaintext. a massive amount of useless data on who's who and where, and 4 digits of the CC #, and the expiry date.

no CCV #, no entire CC #, no identity theft. it's useless. who cares? I don't, and I have CC data on there. I'm not worried. it's being blown out of proportions, especially by 360 players thinking there system is superior to all but their own ego.

[censored] happens.
