Here's a MUCH larger and better quality version of the picture for anyone interested: http://pcmedia.ign.com/pc/image/article/114/1149185/elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-20110211094912883.jpg

May be it's just the way it's done, but it kinda looks like it has ice round it or did,and the background kinda looks like waves to me.
Maybe it's a sea creature or a mythical monster in skyrim....or am i blind and clutching at straws.... :tops:

By that logic, shouldn't I be a cow by now?

That Tcaesci believe they gain the strength of the creatures they eat. That is why people call them the vamperic snakemen of Akavir. Eating could be metaphoric for absorbing into oneself.

I'm pretty sure that that's a snake - it certainly looks like one. Perhaps Talos also slew a snake?

I pictured the Taesci looking like Snakes in the way that Argonians look like reptiles, or perhaps even more human-like - like Voldemort?

Looks like'a gator tail with a haid onnit.

Interesting design for a dragon really. Snakes have round, smooth bodies. This thing is narrow and spiky.

*Gasp*, omg omg omg, that nord is wearing a cloak, you know what that means guys, this barely substantial piece of evidence is PROOF that cloaks are in the game!

Pretty sure it's just a statue of some fabled hero who defeated a Tsaeci/snake/dragon/Todd Howard aeons ago, and we hopefully won't see any of such cliche'd creatures in Skyrim. :)

Of course this is a depiction of a statue in the game. I think it's supposed to be an artistic rendition of an actual dragon by a sculptor who lived in Skyrim. The dragon would be depicted as weak and despicable in order to amplify the Dragonborn's greatness.

What, don't you people study art?

Ha, we actuallly just went over all that stuff in art class on Wednesday

But to me it really just looks like a snake or dragon.

That thing's mouth is way to beak-like to be just any ol' snake. Maybe there are different types of dragon? Different forms for different age groups? Maybe it is just some cool snake-like animal? Either way "just a snake" does not cut it.

I get the feeling it is suppose to be symbolic for slaying a dragon, but the whole Tsaesci is possible although unlikely. Their race seems to be a mixture of other races brought into the Tsaesci much like other vampires. Way to little info has been given about Akavir to make this conclusion though. All we can do is assume vampire doesn't just mean drinks blood, but spreads there kind. Again it is most likely a dragon symbol though.

I know there are many theories leading to Tsaeci's appearance (largely due to the inconsistency with the provided lore), from being full human with snake motif, to full snake recruiting human army. For a race that once controlled Tamriel for two Eras, humans sure are bad are recording down details. Personally, I like to believe that they are shapeshifters.

I'd never thought of shape shifters, cool idea. That would certainly be quite possible and help explain the inconsistency in their description.

As was mentioned earlier though The Serpent has been a sign in TES so they do obviously exist in other forms. I am going to vote we're just looking at Talos killing a serpent. Talos was Dragonborn so I would assume he's probably held very highly by the Nords, maybe we'll find out more about the specific meaning of the statue in the game in that case.
