Whether I stay depends... (Warning: TvTropes Torrent Ahead!) I think here's a good place for me to make my http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MotiveRant about why I left in the first place.
This forum doesn't have a good RP climate... I find that most of the RPs here http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SeriousBusiness. I had started a rant against one of the themes in Illusionary Nothing's guide pinned to the top, about how it's http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/StopHavingFunGuys especially with how they've been interpreted. I partially think people are http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Scrub, and its emphasis on going from "Zero to Hero" (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AntiSue), all in the futile quest to make the RPs "More realistic and relatable", http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RealityIsUnrealistic. Even now, with the influx of RPs focused around dungeon-crawling, Dragon-slaying, and all around playing heroic characters, there's always the frustrating limitation of "But don't be too awesome".
I really, really hate IN's guide posted at the top of the page now. I saw it as being written as an orientation packet for rookie RPers, but now the teachings I'm seeing it express (Particularly in regards to the "No Ubering", "Play Mundane Characters," and "Don't be Cool" sections) are being adhered to as scripture, and there's what I feel is a Witch-hunt for transgressors, ignoring the competance of the roleplayer. My Revised 3rd-edition Dungeon Master's Guide II has a section on the various sorts of roleplayers, and I feel its content applies beyond Dungeons and Dragons to every roleplaying community. Unfortunately, this forum has decided to mark everyone who's not an AntiSue-playing Thespian or Anti-munchkin as Pariah, ignoring, intolerant, or outright hostile to those who come here to have fun playing characters that do deeds outside the realm of Modern Mundanity (Or even close to pressing the envelope. Jack Churchhill was H4XX!]. Really, can we please bring the fun back, without having to worry about "I hope I don't get kicked for Ubering/GodModing/etc" when we post?
This is a world with Reality-altering Mages, active Gods (Or at least Daedra), Cats the size of houses (And know Kung-Fu!), legendary heroes with impressive body counts to their names, and hundreds of artifacts and magic items in the world. Why am I so often forced to play an impoverished basket-weaver?
