Any chance they'll do the suggest a perk contest?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:12 am

Having the fan-proposed Grim Reaper's Sprint included in Fallout 3 was awesome. I picked it every time. Since they're going to have many many perks for Skyrim now, what's the hurt of adding more? How about they pick three from the (yet to be announced but might be coming) contest?

I really hope so. I might think up some save my brilliant, ingenious ideas for the contest.

Grim Reaper's Sprint + VATS invulnerability was as close to godmode as you can get without actually using godmode. No, I hope they don't have another "Suggest some absurdly overpowered perks" contest myself.

That would be awesome. Fan ideas are certainly a crowd pleaser.

That would be pretty cool actually, just as long as its not another "godlike" perk.

I don't think so. The perks here do not work at all like they did in Fallout 3/NV. To make a good one, you would have to know all the other ones, and a bunch of other stuff. Then they would want to tweak it to balance it and all that. I don't see it happening at all.

Sure, why not. I don't think perks will be limited to skills only. Never picked the Grim Reaper perk as I felt it looked overpowering, but I didn't know it was a contest perk.

I don't think perks will be limited to skills only.

But that's exactly how they work. You pick 'perks' under a certain skill, and it makes an area of that skill better. For example some may be under '1-handed weapons' and improve your 1h swords. They dont have generalized perks as Todd said on the podcast a while back. He said something along the lines of "They wont work like they do in Fallout, in that they are instead in tree's under each skill. You have to unlock one perk, to gain access to the next one further down the tree."

So really a perk contest just wouldn't work. :/

I could think of a few perks that would work in ANY skill category, and be mildly entertaining.

Perhaps they'll want something else, though. Suggest-a-quest? Put your character in the game? Create your own enchantment? Name our spoon? Even if it's pathetically limited in scope, you just know forumers will gobble up easter eggs by the non-toxic bucketload if they provide us with any. This sort of interactivity is almost invariably cause for good morale around here.

As the perks doesnt work like in FO3 i doubt it, they probably already have all the perks they need for thier skill trees...
