All things Khajiit

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 6:19 am

I've started playing a Khajiit in Oblivion, and the more I play, the more I want to find out about the race of khajiits. So what can anyone tell me? I've read the UESP article about them where it discusses the different types of khajiits are based on what phase the moon is in when they are born. And I just found the book "Ahzirr Trajijazer," which I found really interesting. What I'm looking for are things that will explain their society, religion, language etc ...

Also has any of the past Elder Scrolls game been based in Elsweyr?

thanks in advance for any help ya'll can provide.

Your best bet would be http://www.imperial-library.info/, this contains a stunning amount of lore and in-game books accumulated throughout the Elder Scrolls series. Khajiits are a surprisingly diverse race with a large amount of different subspecies, the Library has the most canonical information on Khajiit subspecies and culture of any place out there.

Elsweyr has an interesting culture, economy (drugs), and heritage, I suggest you study it as well.

Read up.

Nice, Another Khajiit fan. I love those cats too.

I once had a page on my freewebs site that had a list of all known Ta'agra (Khajiit language) words with their translation (If they had one). Unfortunatley, I deleted it awhile ago, but I think I'll make a new website for all of Tamriel's languages. Looks like it's time for me to visit Google.

Anyway, I'd check some more information on the Khajiit in the Imperial Library. Here's most of the stuff I've found on the cats:

LostGateToCruelty already posted the other links that I had planned to add, oh well.

Meanwhile, I'll be remaking that list of mine...

OP: Focus on the PGE that Wolf Redeemer posted, not the other one.
The first edition concentrates on the culture and essence of the provinces; the third is more about current events.

Why? The barbs do give a layer of exotic appeal.

So let me see if I understand this: Khajiits are similar to werewolves in the sense that their advlt form is determined by the phase of the moons when they are born? And there are differing forms of Khajiits, some are bipedal, some walk on all fours, some are the size of house cats, while some are what 10 feet tall and are used as mounts in battle but all have human level intelligence? Can the more animalistic ones cast magic? Are the ones used as mounts considered citizens or are they owned by the bipedal khajiits? And all of them are pretty well addicted to moon sugar? They are part of the Empire, but they have their own "king" called the mane that seems to be acting against the empire.

I must say that I was highly disappointed that some of what I have read seems to indicate they are at least partially related to the Bosmer.

And as for the barb thing, thats just ... weird.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I still like the Khajiit, but not as much as I used too. I'm all about Redguards now, though who knows how long that will last.

its not that wierd since they are basicly cats, and RL cats got the "barbs" too, but from what i learned from Discovery channel they arent sharp or anything, they just to stimulate the female cat so she "drops her eggs".

i guess its all those damn "furies" or what those people are called that made up this "rakes your insides" stuff so their pormstories gets abit more exotic.

personally im more of a Nord guy, since i am nordic myself.

I'm a fan of Redguards myself, and little bit of Orc if I'm in the mood. But I despise Khajiits, I wish them all horrible agonizing deaths by torture :D

I liked the Khajiit in Morrowind, I always freed the slave Khajiit, but never actually played as one. I don't care for their appearance in Oblivion, it seems weird for them to have the same skeletal structure as a human or an elf...

In fairness Pelinal killed thousands of Khajit because they looked Elven so its not that weird for them to have the same skeletal structure
I'm still all for the explanation they are different types...
I never played a beast race in Morrowind.... Their leg shape looked weird...

I never played a beast because I'm too reliant on the boots of blinding speed.

Well, all races in Oblivion use the same model... that's why the Argonians look so hideous compared to Morrowind. :(

yea, I do miss the khajiit legs from Morrowind. I was hoping they would just give them special boots rather than change their whole body structure.

But I tried to play a khajiit in Arena and they looked horrible.

I'd wished they made the beast races more like Morrowind in Oblivion. Yes, they would have to make some modifications to boots and the rest, maybe taking away the bottom part so they just cover the top of the feet, but it would have worked. Plus, tiger and lizard races look really weird like that... :hehe:

Yes, that's the Ohmes kind. Ohmes-raht are basically the most common kind outside Elsweyr, and those look like elves with furry ears, body fur and the occasional tail, which might explain Pelinal's attitude. ^_^

I wonder if the Khajiit are related to the tiger people of Akavir ruled by Tosh-Raka? This could actually have possible ramifications in a future ES game... imagine Ka Po Tun invading Tamriel and the Khajiit betraying the Empire and joining Tosh Raka..
