Missing Meshes - Form ID Finder Confused?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:47 am

I have some missing meshes, but Form ID finder is telling me that the mod is Oblivion.esm!

Here is the report from Form ID finder:
From Mod: 00: Oblivion.esm
Object not found in expected location:
meshes\dungeons\caves\exterior\CEntranceWestWSm02.nif

The other thing that's weird is that the file is present in the path listed (i.e. data\meshes\dungeons\caves\exterior\CEntranceWestWSm02.nif). I can look at it with nifscope. I have Qarl's TP3 and RAEVWD, but neither of them have this file. I have uninstalled a couple of mods, so I don't know if this is a remnant from something I removed. Should I just delete this file?

Here's my mod list:

I also looked at my original Oblivion install, with no mods, and there is no meshes directory at all, so obviously Form ID Finder is a bit confused. I'm surprised actually that Qarl's didn't have something for these rocks, but it doesn't have West Weald. I extracted Qarl's to an independent directory so I could check what files it does install.

The file is in the 'Oblivion - Meshes.bsa'

Oblivion - Meshes.bsa\meshes\rocks\WestWeald\RockWestWeald04.nif

Do you use OBMM, manual or BAIN installlation?

Sorry, I had clicked in the wrong spot. I edited my post, but you beat me to it :) The file in question is CEntranceWestWSm02.nif. I use OBMM and manual. OBMM for most stuff, including Qarl's and RAEVWD.

You grabbed the UOP 3.2.6 release before it got updated.

Go to your "data\meshes\dungeons\caves\exterior\" folder, select each of those files and choose to rename them. Each one will have a space at the start of the name. Remove the space.

Fixed.

You should check the UOP hotfix thread this mesh and others in the same folder have changes. Related to the leading space in their names.

Ah, ok guys, thanks. Man that is subtle (hard to detect the space). I think I have some other missing meshes from before I installed 3.2.6 though... I'll fix these files and will see what Form Finder reports if and when I see any more.

Thanks again. 'nother one solved :)
