That's good to hear, but why say "Vanilla Skyrim"? Are you being passive aggressive?

He simply means it will be included in the version of the game that gets released, aka no mods needed.

Sleeping in Skyrim seems to be a more interesting problem. There is snowfall in the snowy areas and obviously it would be very cold and you could freeze to death. I doubt they will permit sleeping in these areas if they wish to promote an ounce of realism, without some form of proper sleeping arrangement. Perhaps you can buy tents now. And erect your tent, which will expand as soon as you place it into a tall structure you can actually go into, with a minimal fire, and a small opening above it to let the smoke out, and blanket to lie on next to that.

Or perhaps you have a shovel and a huge bear skin rug rolled up in your pack. And when you go to sleep you have to dig a hole and line the hole with the bear skin and then crawl down into it and seal yourself like a makeshift igloo. Man vs. Wild, the TV show, has a guy showing how to survive in snow by digging a small cave in the snow and by fortifying yourself down inside it from the harsh wind-sheer that virtually robs you of all warmth in hours.

So it must be one of the two, I would guess.

Ah, I was wandering after I typed that if it might be interpreted a certain way, I wasn't trying to make any kind of point I simply use the term (for many games) out of habit as do many people. Just easier to say/type, but I suppose I should be mindful of keeping platform squabbles off the forum.

In Morrowind you can just go into the wilderness and rest. I think you could just wait in Oblivion.

Ah. I had assumed that Morrowind only allowed you to wait as well. It's been too long since I've played.

I do think you had to sleep in a bed to level up though. Everything else, I can't remember.

I would like to be able to sleep anywhere if the weather is good and only in campsites on bad weather. In towns if sleeping on the street your sleep would be interrupted by guards and you would be fined. In houses owners would wake you up and you would lose disposition with them.
