How many CPU cycles is right for Arena?

Hey,

I just want to know how many cycles I should set DOSBox to when playing Arena.

I know you can't really answer this for me because it varies for everyone but I want to know if there is a way of working it out based on the CPU I have.

I have an AMD Athlon LE-1660 2.80 GHZ.

I don't want to be running the game too slow or too fast.

A cycle is a cycle is a cycle, it's the same for everyone. I play Arena with 15,000 cycles.

Most people run Daggerfall with max cycles and a dynamic/auto core. That's a bit overkill for Arena, where I'd recommend about what Freddo uses (or use max cycles and drop them down to roughly 25%). There was a discussion a while back, as well, that between the auto and dynamic cores, one is too fast for Arena (you will notice the only delay on your attacking is how long it takes for your weapon to go off screen and the "townies" will move at the speed of light), and the other of the two isn't so bad. I forget which, so be sure to play around with this as well.
