I'm on the quest where you need to retrieve the Totem of Tiber Septim. After I turn the underwater handle in the vault room, whenever I try to save or load a game, the game crashes and Dosbox reads "Daggerfall has encountered an internal error at 1002. The error reported was: Failed internal check 8." This happens every time, no matter what save game I use before that part. So I'm not sure if this is a corrupted save issue.

Is there any way I can get around this? I'm almost done with the MQ, so would I have to avoid saving to complete it? I know there is a memory extender called DOS32A available, but I'm not sure if it would fix the problem. Any help to get around this problem would be appreciated.

Edit: So I avoided saving after grabbing the totem, and whenever I try to give it to one of the major factions, my game crashes when i try to save again.
