But I think that depending on what it is, they should either accept it or arrest you. Stolen things MIGHT get you in trouble (maybe depending on persuasion or personality or something), but valuable things will increase disposition.

I hope it's something like that - it seemed weird that they would freak out even if what you were giving them was 1) legal and 2) cool/impressive/better than what hey had.
Also, never done the Little Lamplight thing. I'm half tempted to fire it up just to see what they look like
