A Questionnaire on Dell Laptops

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:42 am

Hey guys/ladies, I've got a credit on consumer behaviour, and I need to administer a short questionnaire (it will only take 2 minutes) on Dell Laptops. This forum is fairly computer literate, so I can reach out to more people here.

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CTGLWQZ .

For the questionnaire to work, I need people who own a Dell and still use it. However, if you want to, just tick the "I still use it" category as a "yes". I just need the data really.

I realise it's not the best of questionnaires, I just need 50 people who have bought and still use a Dell. I messed up question 3 because I should have said that if you answer no to that question, then you can not continue the survey.

Thank you. :)

I'm not sure many people on a gaming forum are using Dell laptops, that's just a guess though. Maybe the Dell forums (do they have any?) might be a better bet, not sure about their rules though.

Yeah I would guess that they wouldn't allow polls over there because otherwise they'd get a lot of people asking these questions.

However, I'm sure that there are folks here who have a Dell. I mean Dell are really popular. Even if your mum uses it, answer the questionnaire for her. :P

I answered your question I have a monster Dell, the Precision M6400. I will tell you what I like and dislike. It is overall a good machine in term of power. Large screen, good graphic power for a laptop, good processing power, relatively complete configuration.
However, it has several bad defaults:
- The keyboard is crap and is breaking too often. Already 2 keys are missing and I need to replace it. From beginning, I had problem with keyboard.
- The lower part of the laptop related to keyboard was definetly wrongly made. One of the RAM was having a bad contact when I got the laptop and letters 3,E, F, V and M,L, P,- were not working.
- The alim pack is massive, much too heavy.
- The laptop itself is too heavy

Globally, I like Dell, they are very robust especially knowing the working condition I am in (fluctuating power, sand, very high humidity, heat etc...). You don't buy Dell for esthetic, they are exactly the opposite of Mac.

I looked through the first page of the survey. I saw there was no, "Do you think Dell svcks as a company?" question and left.

So here's my take on the survey.

Don't buy a Dell. They are a horrible computer company.

I've had some really shady dealings with them. Just recently the jack-wagons cleaned out my checking account of all it's money. They are a bunch of crooks. I'd just as soon buy a company to tear down all of Dell's buildings than buy a Dell product.

I bought one a while back and I took the survey. My Dell lasted longer than the laptop I bought after it and my sister still uses it to this day. It isn't an amazing laptop by any means but it isn't horrible.

I've had my Dell laptop for over 5 years, and never had a problem with it, other than the battery svcked and the price for a new one is ridiculous.

I don't own a Dell, but from my experience working at a Helpdesk their customer service is abhorrent.

I took the survey although a lot of the questions just sounded the same. Anyways, I have a Dell Inspiron laptop from 2001 that still gets use every now and then....pretty robust machine that's chuggin along.

I've been getting this. It's not actually a set of questions I came up with myself, it's called The Oliver Satisfaction Scale (1993). We have to include it in our questionnaire.

The results up till now have mostly been positive.
