Need help using TV as Monitor

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 10:40 am

I got it working but I have a problem. Some of the screen is obscured. By that I mean, it's like what is being displayed by my PC onto the TV has been panned to the right so that there is nothing but black, from top to bottom, to the very far left of my screen. It's not too bad but the scroll bar and the clock in my toolbar are both obscured.

Hope that makes sense. Anyway, is there a way for me to move the image on the PC?

This might be fixable in the option menu of your television. If you go into menu, then video options, there should be a screen position thing somewhere. Use that to position the screen correctly. Hopefully that works out for you. I personally can't think of anything else.

You can also try looking in your graphics card's control software. I only have experience with ATI, but their Catalyst Control Center might have an option to change screen positioning.

My HDTV (LG) won't display the PC's picture correctly unless the aspect ratio setting is set to "just scan". Despite using 1920x1080 resolution the image doesn't show correctly with 16:9 setting

I doubt that helps in your case, but try to explore and experiment with the TV settings, one of them should fix that.

Sorted. Should have checked the manual for the TV first. Just took like 3 button presses on the remote, and there I was thinking manuals were useless.
