perk system

The first question asks whether you would be able to pick a perk from level x at a level higher than that. It just requires a certain level to unlock. And of course you would still only pick one per level [or whatever systemthe devs choose].

I'd personally say yes. Heres my reasoning. If you were limited to a certain group of perks and can only choose one than your character customisation would be limited if you want two of them.

The second question is whether you can choose to not pick a perk in a level but have that choice later.

I would like a Fallout 3 type of perk system.

A hybrid of Fallout 3 and Oblivion which is what I think they're aiming for.

Fallout 3's perks were useless and you got them every level.

Something like the old-games where you got a really powerful perk every few levels would be better.

But answer me this, would you want TES to become Fallout? I'm still not happy how Fallout became essentially TES. Food for thought.

I find that I can't really vote on these, because the way that I understand the perks to be, are as individual points situated on different arms of the constellations that become unlocked in a very linear progression as you work your way along that branch of the perk tree. So in other words they only become available if you have chosen the previous perks on that branch.

What your questions seem to imply, is that perks are made available to the player at different levels of that player's overall experience. From what I understand though, that's just not the case.

Basically whatever you choose to excel in, is what determines how quickly you can acquire those higher level perks in that skill.

For example, you could essentially become a master of destruction by level 10, if you chose to unlock every perk in that constellation, one right after the other. Another character , however, could be a level 40 and not have chosen to unlock any perks in the destruction skill tree, so in that regard he would still be a novice of destruction and would only have the starting perk points along each destruction branch available for him to choose from when he levels to 41.

Do you see what I mean? Your questions don't really seem to apply to the system that the devs are putting in place.

It would be pointless not to choose a perk at one level(to save it) because it is the very act of choosing a perk that makes the more advanced perks available for you to choose. At least that's how I imagine the system is going to work.
