Will game consoles have the testing hall and a developer con

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:54 am

One day i was headed to the abandoned mine on Oblivion, when a enemy attacked me. I was level 1 ( i wanted to find everything first) so i tried to run i turned 90 then he had killed me. I tried reloading my save but then i found myself with a blind man and nowhere else to go then a door. I went through the door and found more doors, i tried the blue ones thinking the red ones were bad or had errors. I got great armor and great weapons as well as everything in the game! I did not know how to get out so i looked it up on Google, which i forgot how since it has been a while. But i really liked that place and wanted to go back so i tried again but could never go back... Anyways, i really hope they make the test-hall available somehow (like after finishing the game). Also putting a console would not be a memory issue because i was able to keep every item plus i was still able to use the duplication glitch as well as the money glitch. So why should the console not be available in the in game menu? I had problems with using console on my PC, we can't say the Xbox is perfect and it can do everything, but by making a console in the game we could inspire others and make games more creative and more as the way we want it, isn't that what gamers want? A world that you can be anything that you want to be and do anything that you want to do?

no

not at all

save often and your problem is solved. the game autosaves as you enter most dungeons anyway

the only other use is to essentially cheat, if your struggling just turn the difficulty down. if you just want to tool around then the console versions without a maintenance console were not the right platform to buy on.

the pc needs a maintence console for mods, no mods means no console. if bethesda blocked mods they'd probably lock the console system entirely

it's not neccessary

Eh, no. I don't mind cheats and stuff in games but one that just gives you access to EVERYTHING worthwhile is pushing it I reckon. ^_^

I wish so, but I doubt it.

Will they? Probably not.
Should they? Certainly.

Bethesda isn't exactly known for their bug free games (and given the scope, it's understandable) and the console could go a long way in helping to correct leftover bugs. It won't be as comprehensive or easy as a fan patch, but it would get the job done when needed.

If people want to use it to cheat, let them cheat. Big deal. Use of the console could disable achievements/trophies. It's been done before.

It's a well-known bug that sometimes the player can get shunted to one of the testing areas, usually when the game loses track of what cell you're supposed to be in. Honestly though, I'm going to say no to the testing hall being available on consoles. I mean, unless you're going to cheat or want to use no-clip for something there's no real point to any user of vanilla TES games enabling the console. You do sometimes need it with mods in case they bug out on you and you have to advance a quest stage, unlock your controls, etc.

I cannot edit so i will post this here. My friend Greg had mods on his Oblivion save then used it, so there could be mods plus i got outside the map on accident and got in too many errors, so the console could help get me out. And Oblivion gets a bit boring after 40 min into the game so it would be nice to use a console but like Sychosis has stated: "If people want to use it to cheat, let them cheat. Big deal. Use of the console could disable achievements/trophies. It's been done before." So you can use the console to create small armies and fight or use it so that you can fix a glitch ex: a quest item has fallen inside walls ex: the ring of burden i had had gone inside a locked house. You could disable achievements for console use rather than take it out, like this picture...

Doesn't the console have the chance to cause stability errors that could harm the system. I doubt Microsoft or Sony would want that. Some built in cheats would be nice though.

1. I'm not worked up about achievements, personally.
2. I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say about your friend greg. So he uses mods, and what does that have to do with this?
3. get stuck outside the map, reload a save. You really don't need the console for that. Get an error, reload a save.
4. So if oblivion get's boring, play something else? No reason to give accesss to the dev console just because some players feel a tad bored.
5. lose a quest item, reload a save.
6. creating armies with the console will just make the system chug, and depending on the codes you use and the frequency of use you could bloat your savegame.

Ultimate answer, no.

Why? Because the poll options don't allow for splitting the answer, all versions use same maps so yes consoles probably will have the testing hall, but consoles don't have command consoles. Never have, and based on Gstaff's verification of "no mods on consoles for Skyrim" it's a fair bet they won't be getting them for TES V.

Had probably be smart to add some console commands like tcl if stuck and advance current quest one step as cheats on consoles, as a way to get out of bugs.
Access to testing hall, no reason why, it's only where for internal testing, only left as it might be useful testing patches.

It has been confirmed that there will be no Creation Kit available for consoles. Sorry to say if you want to use it or access areas set aside for testing you will have to go with the pc.
