TES Mages Vs. Jedi

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 11:07 am

...well truth be told I forgot about flow walking, which allows them to travel in time... a feat I am not sure has ever been explored in TES (though I am no lore expert).

There are reports of Altmer going back intime to fight the Numidium, and preent it from completley destroying Alinor and altering the timeline.

because in TES, to destroy whole worlds, you need Daedric Prince-like power, which most mages definitely do not have.

not even Daedric powe can destroy TES planets. But that is because in TES, with one exception, planets are infinite balls of an idea+creatia. And that planet (NIrn) is guarded by 7 Regular Et'ada and the 2 strongest (Alduin and Shor)

Another factor that Force-users have is that they can sense stuff, like SyltStryder mentioned. The individuals who mastered this talent can't really be hit. Darth Bane was able to dodge raindrops in the middle of a storm.

Detect ______ spells. There is detect Key, detect enchantment, detect life, detect dead body (in lore) and I'm going to assume "detect whateverthe[NUMMIT]youwant." Also, Master of conjuration have been said to be capable of conjuring other people's thoughts.

but it's a constant effect enchantment on his robe.

Which is actually a TES magical Skill. Who is the best enchanter in tes? I'd have to go with Kragnec Half-Troll. Now he, if given some time to prepare, could easily [censored] up anybody. and I mean ANYBODY. Why? becausewhen you are parilized, losing health, and getting zapped by lightning for simply touching some enchanted carpet or air or water or whatever, yo can't do much.

Somebody should post this same thread with the major arguments for both sides on a Star-wars forum, and see their reaction.

I had to go with Force-Users on this one. I have never really enjoyed playing a mage class in ES. On the other hand, I went with a force based character in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and loved all the ways they implemented the force. I felt powerful, and I felt like I had a handful of options to pick from every time I needed to dispatch an enemy.

Now, that answer is based more on the question's wording than anything. In ES I almost always pick a magicka-based skill at some point and end up loving it. For example, on a stealth character, picking up illusion is very beneficial. I am just never a pure mage; I cannot enjoy just hitting the fireball button every time I see anything move. Jedis, on the other hand, use a combination of force based attacks and physical attacks when attacking. I find this much more enjoyable.

If the Mage is a master in all schools the Jedi has a snowballs chance in oblivion of defeating him, because it's not going to be like in game where they cast one spell at a time. Lots is going to be happening.

and well Telekenesis (to get rid of the light sabre) + paralyse + a conjured blade = one dead jedi

even a master in one school would have a major advantage, except maybe restoration, but then again I guess they could just absorb health/fatigue

Illusion: Command humaniod, cause the jedi to kill himself
Destruction: A light sabre isn't very effective against fire/frost/lighting balls (maybe all at once o.O) which are coming as quick as a mage can throw them
Conjuration: Nuff said, just summon a few daedroth and frost atronach's
Alteration: Is all about bending reality so anything is possible
Mysticism: A bit difficult but maybe a reflect spell to reflect the damage? i'm not quite sure

do lightsabers do melee damage? a mage can actually stop 100% of melee damage pretty easily. next!

Well, the melee weapons that mages usually go up against can't cut through damn-near anything, where a lightsaber, ya know, can.

mages can heal and paralyze nuff said.

And a jedi can't?

The ability to shoot a fireball is insignificant next to the power of the force!

doesn't really matter. the only thing that matters is - does the lightsaber do melee damage? if it does then that damage can be 100% nulled.
