We can only unlock gun parts via challenges? Which from what I understand AREN'T part of the multiplayer but are more like training scenerios?

Or am I reading that completely wrong and its more like CoD weapon challenges...?

Yes only via challenges but they can be done cooperatively.

And doing challenges co-op makes them more difficult, the more friends you hav playing, up to 4 I think it is, so having three of your friends playing the difficult challenges (except the hardest which doesn't give attachments) is supposed to be a good challenge

And the third tier challenge can not be done cooperatively, right? I should think that you won't go unrewarded for completing the hardest challenge...

“Our challenges are entire scripted levels, which you can play solo or co-op. An
example of one is a level we call “MEDIC!”, where you play as a medic on a team,
where your only job is to keep the other team-members alive, while they complete
core objectives. The trick to doing well in this challenge is being smart about who
you revive, and when you revive them. If you win, you’ll unlock something cool, as
well as a tougher difficulty level. And if you beat that difficulty level, you’ll unlock
more cool stuff and difficulty levels. And once you’ve truly mastered all the
challenges
(which are fun mini-games in their own right), you’ll have unlocked tons
of great stuff, and you’ll have learned a lot of the skills you need to do well online.”

- Richard Ham

Imo that implies every level unlocks something.

Its not about reward its so difficult the devs are sure some of us won't be able to complete it. How fair is it that you can't unlock everything if you aren't as good at FPS as some of us.

Its kinda like the mode from the Bulletstorm demo.

Edit.

Rev you may be right, idk we shall know in less than two weeks.

Eh...I'd think doing them competitively would be harder, you know, against people...but thats just me.

Looking back at the whole of BRINK theres a lot of things that defy logic to me in the mindset and execution of these developers and their game. Its gone beyond me thinking itll be a terrible game and more into the realm of..."well its so different, it may just work."

-Multiplayer thats Based in Singleplayer.
-Team Based Game that defaults to friends only chat.
-Unlocks given away in Co-op and not Mainstream multiplayer.
-Beefy gun sounds but less bullet damage.
-Fast moving gameplay but slower time to death
-Faster style of play but pips and cool down periods for most things, even grenades.

Its certainly ot me scratching my head. The biggest thing my friends and I are worried about though is still the bullet damage. Were hardcoe mode-ers in every game since CoD4 and use to those heavy hitring rounds and we all hate gears cover sliding...so itll be different. I'm still willing to give it a shot though. If it svcks...I'm going to Portal 2 lol.

Challegnes are co-op only, not competitive. You'll never play /against/ your friends, only with them. Which is why having them there would only make things easier (unless they svck :P ).

And does it really look too slow to you, the kill times? It's not CoD, definitely, but if you're accurate you can down someone in like 2-3 seconds.

I think the kill times are alright. It isn't Call of Duty, shoot me twice in the foot and I'm dead, while it isn't Halo's average of 2 clips to kill someone.

It's said that developers have difficulty with the hardest tier. And they know how everything works.

Well, truth be told I could watch a thousand videos and never really know. Not until I'm actually playing do I know. My idea of engaging a target is as tactical as I possibly could be in a game I guess. I aim center mass with a slight pull up wards until I reach the head or the rifle kick takes me off target. Accuracy is a big thing for me so I do my best to group bursts. I want to be able to look at a tagert put one burst in the chest and the next towards the head; all in the same thought almost. If I miss, thats cool but in my thinking thats how quick it should take to down someone...SMGs are a bit different but for a rifle(full or semi) Engage, Burst, Burst, Disengage. Just as fast as you can say it pretty much.

Yes we call that twitch based gameplay. Pretty sure BRINK has stated that it won't be that type of genre and extended gunbattles will be a reality. I know games that have done both ways well and badly so its all a matter of where your willing to put your faith. Into precedence or into Splash Damage.
