My laptop is incredibly slow recently. Despite having only a fraction of the harddrive used it still is very slow. I have tried using CCleaner and all those sorts of programs to spee dit up but to no avail. However I recently saw that my PF usage right after startup is 911mb, as I only have 1gb ram I assume this must be making it slow.

The only startup services I have running are:
-Intel Common User Interface (3 of them)
-Bluetooth stack for Windows by Toshiba
-SVPWUTIL Application
-HWSetup
-Realtek HD Audio Manager
-Synaptics Pointing Device Driver
-Toshiba HDD Protection
-Toshiba HDD SSD Alert
-Zonealarm Client
-AVG Internet security.

This is all on Windows 7. How can I find which one is causing such a big page file and what other ones can I disable to speed things up?

I wouldn't even bother going around trying all of that. If what you do is causing such high PF usage, your computer's telling you it needsp more RAM. That would help quite a bit. That, or you can lower your pagefile, but you'd probably get low memory messages.

Chances are that most of those background applications are using your pagefile since the processor doesn't deem them to be super high-priority processes. A way you can check memory usage is hitting ctrl+shift+esc. They're listed in KB, but you should get an idea. I don't see even AVG using over 100MB; you have your startup pretty minimal. I'd personally ditch ZoneAlarm, but that's just because I've found it useless.

Windows 7 and 1 GB of RAM? That's why your page file is so high, you don't have enough memory. 1 GB is the BARE MINIMUM requirement for Windows 7 32-bit. Your computer is begging for more memory. It doesn't matter how much you chip away at other programs, as Windows 7 is probably using almost all of your memory.
