Virani listened carefully to try to get a feel for her new companions as they greeted the Bosmer newcomer. They seemed quite a bit less welcoming to him than they had been to her- Were they turned off by his boastfulness? Prejudiced against Bosmer? The Dunmer woman seems particularly distrustful, but then most of her kind are. Virani internally chastised herself for this last thought. In her travels she had come to enjoy the company of people of all races, but even so cultural tendencies like the introversion of the Dunmer still rubbed her the wrong way. Still, she thought it was good to have another woman along. Perhaps it would make her seem like less of a novelty. And it was always good to have another woman to talk with.
Most everyone seemed to accept the Bosmer though, if a bit reluctantly. Juhanor got up and left to make himself more presentable for the king. She turned her attention to other Imperial at the table, tall and rugged like Trannigan, but with blonde hair and a somewhat crooked grin.
He flashed said grin at her as he asked in the general direciton of the Bosmer, "How effective are you a whipping up poisons? Octavius, by the way." Octavius, she thought and made a point to keep everyone's names straight. The dark haired Imperial is Trannigan, the blonde is Octavius
"I hold myself in quite a high regard when it comes to making potions and poisons. I can identify most plants and their effects, as a result of many years of research... Actually, I work at the Alchemy shop you bought those Poisons from, Octavius, so you better hope I'm good." He responded confidently.
Although she hadn't been addressed specifically, this was also her area of interest, and Virani added, "I too spend a lot of time with alchemy, mostly identifying the properties of ingredients. Perhaps if we need to create some more potions later we should compare notes? No sense in wasting ingredients unnecessarily."
The Bosmer nodded in the direction Juhanor had headed off before adding, "The furlicker mentioned the King... what exactly does he have to do with this?"
Virani narrowed her eyes a bit at the casual insult- it bothered her since Juhanor had welcomed her quite readily and she didn't want to let that kind of thing go. As she thought about how to address it she simply said "The King is the one to authorize expeditions into the Saarthal... it is his city after all. So perhaps we should follow his lead and head out soon?" She stood up and picked up her staff from where she had left it leaning against the table. Actually she wasn't sure quite what the King's intent sponsoring an expedition was, but she knew it was important. "Anyone who wants to accompany me now can- we can join Juhanor there."
She paused a bit before turning to Glorogoth. "And I know you meant no harm, but perhaps it would be best to leave language like 'furlicker' above the surface. If we run into trouble I think the last thing we need is some racial tension getting in our way." She tried to say this confidently and hoped she didn't sound antagonistic or condescending.
