I think there are small chances for dismemberments in Skyrim. It would be just too unrealistic. Other thing is an executioner or a butcher taking off the head of his victim, lying in appropriate position, with time to aim and perform good, precise swing, and the other thing is to fight wiht an aware enemy, capable of blocking/evading. Gore in Fallout was sort of funny, intentionally exaggerated but there is no place for it in Skyrim (maybe some easter egg?).
Anyway, in one of podcasts, Todd said that Skyrim takes some features from Fallout. Does anyone know if there will be different hit areas in Skyrim? You know, like in Fallout, but without excessive violence. You could slow down your enemy by hitting in its legs or disarm him by striking in hands. It was possible to damage an enemy's armour in Oblivion, but why not being able to cripple him?
