Frames Per Second

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:46 am

I did some searching but couldn't find any information on this; does anyone know how fast Brink will run on consoles in terms of frames per second?

I don't think that's true. The consoles have been capped at 30 fps. I don't know the source for this, but another very knowledgeable forumite told me.

A lot of games on both consoles are capped at 30fps, but not all.

Resistance: Fall of Man was a PS3 release title, and it had 30fps cap on multiplayer, but wasn't capped for single player, and I've had 50+ fps on it when I actually checked.

Since it's an artistic styled game, I'd say 50-60 FPS easily. It's not like Battlefield 3 were it's OMG SOOOOOO SUPR RELISTC!11!1!!11!!1!

I really hope so. I absolutely love when a game runs silky smooth at all times; it's my worst pet peeve in gaming when an explosion goes off or there are enemies right next to me and it lags, so frustrating :banghead:

Also keep in mind theyr using a diffrent version of the id tech 5 mega (or was it giga?) texture software, that they made themselves for 4.
Another reason to belive the frames per second should be, lovely :)

They squeeze everything out that engine they can. So rather 30fps than 60. Especially because the lighting appears to be done quite well.
Also 16 players are quite many for consoles.

They use a modded idTech 4 Engine (like Call of Duty).

Xbox is capped at 30 fps, theoretically it cannot go higher or lower. I believe ps3's are the same but I do not know.

This game will not exceed 30 FPS imo. Also, because it's art styled, or not realistic, in no way means it requires less processing power.

Odds are console users will be stuck at 720p, 30 FPS, with lower-res textures.

Yeah you'll get 1080i, maybe p, I don't think so though. As far as what PC gets, we don't have a set single number denomination system for our resolutions, since we aren't restricted to 16:9, for example I have 16:10.

I know they use Id Tech 4 Revo O,o my point is they've developed a diffrent version of the mega textures that are being used in id tech 5.

And Carmack has made it quite obvious how much of a diffrence mega textures make, with his little iphone demo :P

Yeah consoles will get 720p (1280x720) or 1080p (1900x1080) I cant see this game getting 1080p. Halo3 didnt even get proper 720p (i believe it was 645)

PC users will get whatever the hell their PC's and/or monitor can support. Which for myself will be 1900x1200 (like 1080p but more verticle screen space). one of my work colleagues just bought of the new Nvidia cards are £300 a piece and £600 32" monitor. He will be enjoying the game at 2560x1600 (aka 1600p) I guess those are luxuries one can afford when they work an additional part time job just to fund their PC habit.

Again, that is not right, for it to be "1600p" their resolution would have to be 2844x1600. Your monitor has 1920x1200.

1080 is a higher resolution, and this game's graphics engine is not exactly as friendly as what consoles are used to. Extra resolution = extra work, = not going to happen (most likely). You might get 1080i though.

The only console games that truly run at 1080p have relatively simple graphics. But all major games with advanced graphics run around 720p. The consoles may then upscale the graphics to 1080p (basically stretch it out), but it's still 720p at the core.

As long that there is no lag in our games and get the best multiplayer experience, I don't really mind what fraps we get.

if there are a bunch of people on screen with explosions, fps would probably drop to atleast 30. But in all the xbox demoes Ive seen, the game runs on 50-60 fps easy.

There is no "1440" resolution.

There is 1440x1080 (square pixels), which comes from HDV (DV Cam; using anamorphic pixels to become 1920x1080).

But all major games with advanced graphics run around 720p. The consoles may then upscale the graphics to 1080p (basically stretch it out), but it's still 720p at the core.

Actually many console games run below 720p,

1024x600 is very common, for example.
