The Heart of the Dead and Open Better Citties issue

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 9:50 am

Hey guys, I recently installed both Open Better Citties and The Heart of the Dead and I am having some issues, these are the mod related ESPs I'm using : Better Cities.esp, Better Cities Resources.esm, Delivery Job-BC.esp, Blood&Mud.esp, HeartOfTheDead.esp, Open Better Cities - Full City Defences.esp and Open Better Cities FULL.esp, I'm also using OBSE.

I was in Bruma before OBC was installed, so Inar was still in the inn, I followed him to his bedroll, he gave me the quest, I did it (it is amazing by the way!), and came back to Bruma, but since OBC was now installed I could walk into the city without loading, and he was just not there, the quest marker points to the city gates, but when I click them, they just open like normal gates.

Is there any compatibility fixes?

P.S: I bought Shivering Isle, installed it, it all patched and everything, I also got the esp enabled, but I wait 24 hours and nothing happens, any ideas?

Don't use Delivery Job-BC.esp with OBC, it isn't compatible.
If you read the OBC readme, it clearly lists Heart of the Dead as one of the mods which is made compatible IF you use Arthmoor's Open Cities patch for the mod. So go to the Open Cities page on Nexus, and download the Heart of the Dead patch.

I allready tried that, and I don't see tHotD as one of the patches, it would be great if you could provide a link.

The Open Cities patch appears to have been made obsolete. Heart of the Dead is no longer compatible with Open Better Cities. You will have to find a small grey brick somewhere near the city gate, it's a hidden door which will get you back into the city worldspace, where you can find whatever Heart of the Dead adds to the city worldspace.

Which gate? North or east one, could you also be more specific please?

No I can't, it's been more than 11 months since I abandoned Open Better Cities and stopped offering support for it. I have absolutely no clue which gate I placed the brick beside. I might even have placed one by both gates. Looking once more at my readme, I see in the changelog from 23rd December 2008 (when I placed these brick-doors) that I said the following
"Outside every single city gate there is now a grey brick lying on the ground. This brick is a secret door, allowing the player to travel into the old city worldspaces. This will allow you to play quest mods which require you to visit the old city worldspaces. When you are ready to return to the Open version, either Fast Travel, or simply approach and use the city gates. They will place you back outside the city walls again."
So based on that, there's probably a brick outside both gates.

Oh well.... there are tons of bricks, can't find that one :( I guess I will just have to exit the game, disable the mod get the quest and enable it again, shame that you quit supporting it :(

Tons of bricks? There really should only be the ones I placed as hidden doors. They're lying on the ground a short distance from the gates.

I've never seen any, they must be added by another mod you're using.

Could you maybe take a screenshot of the brick?
