[REQ] Animated Bubble FX

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 3:22 am

Is there an animated bubble FX in the CS that I am missing. One like the drip effect etc..

If not does anyone know of a resource that adds a vertical line of animated bubbles? I need to make something that is not water look like water and the way to do that is to have random streams of bubbles and sound, so that people think they are looking into a tank of water. I seem to remember having this resource in Morrowind, I may be wrong though.

Anyone know of it for Oblivion or is anyone willing to perhaps make it, please?

According to the readme, you should not move to see the effect. Also, OBSE is required.

An alternative would be to stick a small particle emitter mesh into/onto your water tank mesh, with the right values on the gravity modifier you could get quite a nice bubble stream, I am sure. Couple it with a kill-on-collide collision system at the surface of the water and that'll stop you getting any "bubbles" floating off above the top of your "water".

Thank you for the helpful suggestions everyone and the attempts to help, I really appreciate it. :)

Unfortunately I still need a stream of bubbles. I don't know how to put a particle mesh on the tank. :(

I have bubbles on the brain now...

I can't mesh to save my life (I hope I never *need* to mesh to save my life! :ahhh: ), but I can set up a particle system easily enough. I've had lots and lots and LOTS of practice with the things via VASE. If you send me a copy of the tank mesh I can (probably) set something up for you. How soon do you need it?

I guess I'll need to provide a bubble texture as well, huh...?

Edit: The more specific you can be on *exactly* what you want the better, and the faster it is likely to get done... if you want my help that is.

Thank you, I would very much appreciate the help.

I will send you a copy of the mesh and pics showing the set up I am trying to acheive.

Sure, the more clearly you explain what you want, the less likely I am to get carried away and have bubbles doing loop-the-loops/exploding/turning into robots/something else.

Personally I think I am more than ready for the bubbles-turning-into-robots mod for Oblivion. It would really liven up the waterways ;)

I've been sick and busy the last wee while and just started on this this evening. Here's a screen of my mockup "http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/Working/BubblesMockup2.jpg". Hey, they're in disguise, ya know?

One hours work (mostly spent remembering how to set things up *without* using animations) and I'm down to tweaking the numbers now. Meek, I'll be in touch shortly, I expect.

Hah, literally just finished. I have even managed to do a semi-decent bubble texture, though if you can find/make better you're in no way obliged to use my rather poor textures.
Here's http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/Working/BubblesMockup3.jpg, and they http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/Working/BubblesMockup4.jpg (supposedly at a nominal water surface).
The texture and the "surface" (a planar collider) were the bits that took the longest, as I never needed planar colliders in VASE. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsPaired.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/VafurlogiScenic3.jpg, not many planes.

I'll send you the files in a moment with notes.

If there's one thing I know how to do what can't be done with, it's particle systems. :tops:

P.S. Did that even make sense?

Good point. If anyone needs bubbly beer just pass me the beer mesh and I'll stick the bubbles in for you. You're on your own for further textures though: they're really not my forte!

@vacuity

Sorry to bring up an old thread like this, but could you upload this to tesnexus? This is a great resource for modders :)

I totally agree! I remember requesting this type of particle effect, but didn't know it had been finished. Sent you a PM, too, Vacuity.

Uhh, gotcha, but actually it's not working correctly as-is.

I've had no time for modding in the last six months until about three weeks ago, and at that point II, MMM and Cobl took priority. I've got time for "other" stuff again now, so I'll take a look at the old meshes and try and work out what the problem(s) was(were). I actually have a lot of ideas for ambient effects achieved by particle systems so I may make a general "release page" for particle effect resources when I get this polished up and hopefully make some more.

Vac

Edit: Just woke up, so I'm not expressing myself as clearly as I should be.

The bubble effect I did for Meek works perfectly, the free-standing mesh doesn't, but as I already got the system working for Meek, there's no reason to think I can't do it again.
