Something always bothered me in Oblivion. And that was the trees were usually pretty small, especially the redwoods. I've lived near the world's largest redwood forests, they grow so tall that it's hard to wrap your mind around it. "Why do all the cars look so tiny?" is what you find yourself asking. Skyrim looks to continue that tradition. I realize trees in the far north actually tend to be fairly stunted, but I still think it would be cooler to have something like this:

I mean, we have dragons and magic and etc. I'd just like imposing forests to go with them.

All the trees are apparently hand made, so some trees might be gigantic while some might be small.

Imo, the trees were tall enough in OB. I know red wood trees are taller but no where in the game was it said that the trees in OB were red wood. (the looked like red wood)

those in game photos hardly show every climate so you maay not be disapointed when skyrim comes out. but I doubt that they will make any trees on scale with real red wood trees since placing over sized static objects has its problems in the game.

Wow that looks great. What is it? CryEngine 3?

But yeah, I would definitely like SOME trees like that. A variety between big cool trees with lots of strange branches and smaller ones, etc etc.
Variety is the key.

where u hear that? I super doubt that. unless they've decided to put in less trees. that statement is true in the sense that they make the tree sets then put them into the world but other wise.... that would take FOREVER *echo*

simple reasoning here, taller tress=more polys/branches=slower game = pissed off customer
however with the new engine it should probably be enough to make bigger trees
also who know ES trees could look different

If everything works the same as Oblivion you can just go scale up all the trees in the editor! Seriously though, it'd be nice if they were big enough and thick enough to block out the sun, but in the long run I probably won't really notice when playing.

Redwoods are frankly far too large for this engine to do them justice. They would have to make the map far far larger and have you see the wall of trees rising on the horizon like a living mountain range.

Its very very creepy how small you feel as you get closer and closer to those things.. and standing right next to one makes you feel like a freaking chipmonk.

First of all, I do live in the US. Second of all, why on earth would anybody do that when the California Redwood is a distinct tree from the Great Sequoia? You know how much confusion that would cause? I am almost sure when people say "redwood" they mean "redwood" and when people say "sequoia" they mean "Great Sequoia".

That sounds amazing, I'd love to see them some day. I agree that they're unlikely to be able to capture scale like that in Skyrim, sadly.

In seriousness, they could do it if they did it as terrain instead of an actual tree.
