The Future of Anno... 2070!

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 6:56 am

Since some folks here played Dawn of Discovery and others of the grand A.D. series:

I find this very intriguing. The series was running out of eras if they had kept the historical background. So here we are - 2070, global warming, islands in the never-ending ocean, techies and ecos as factions. Anyone else excited? ^_^

Haven't played an Anno game since 1602, but this sounds excellent!

Very cool, I loved the gameplay and setting of all the previous Anno games. The setting and design look excellent for this, I can't wait to see how they pull off this futuristic setting.

You should check out 1404/Dawn of Discovery before this. I've spent more than 500 hours on that one now, and I'm not even done with every solo scenario yet. Besides, I don't expect the formula to change that much in 2070. ^_^

Hmm maybe I will. I'm playing quite a bunch of other games atm though, and X3: Terran Conflict has taken my soul.

Spoiler
Not to mention that I still have an MA thesis to write.

Hehe, that's what Anno did, distract me throughout mine when I needed a break. So that should be fine. ^_^

Oh my god! I want it now!

I've only ever played 1404 or Dawn of Discovery as some call it, but man I loved that game. I've got about 100 hours total across anno 1404 and the Venice expansion, mostly venice as I almost only play sandbox games.

I've always wanted to see a building oriented game like Anno in a post apocalyptic setting, this will do just fine though, that screenshot alone got me hyped as hell.

That's not a computer, you plonka. Might have linked to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antikythera_mechanism. (Yes, I know it says there "computer" but if it only does one thing it's not one, at least not one which could be used to play an Anno game...)

The degree of mechanical sophistication is comparable to a 19th century Swiss clock

So it's pretty close to my old Gateway, then.
